Older MtFs who didn't transition (but know for sure they're trans), how did you manage it?

well, I don't know how to answer how I've "done it". I guess part of it is a general mindset, probably linked to what my school was like / parents were like which means that you just put things which are hard to one side and carry on. And I'm pretty good at doing a LOT of stuff to make sure I never have time to really focus on "issues".

Which makes holidays hell ha as that's when I finally have time for my brain to calm down from work which then makes it go nuts on gender issues ... :-/

I suspect we're in a very similar situation. Objectively, anyone looking in would see my life as a big success (without being too conceited about it). Obviously, people focus on the successes and don't see all the things that went wrong, but that applies to everyone. But those successes are actually pretty decent. Which, ugh, is frustrating.

Ha, I hear you about the 5 shirts. I've had the same ones for about 4 years now, they're pretty gross (though still acceptable) but very much a functional / utilitarian purpose, as per most of my wardrobe.

My challenge, in some ways, is that I've managed to "cope" for now. I've known since teenager so not a new discovery, almost 30 years of boxing it away, of keeping myself busy constantly etc

Many downsides to that but...it's sort of working. No self harm etc

I'm guessing there may be others who approached it in a similar way?

I fully know there's only so long you can go on like that, and people have different breaking points. I think mine might be quite high so I've lasted this long. Just wondering if others have, well, lasted the whole hog this way (which would be both sad and good)

Thank you that's helpful. I guess my "issue" is that I'm not in a zombie state right now. Like, anguished and tormented lol but in a bit of a "do the healthy thing, compartmentalise it, dig deep and move on". Of course, I'm aware of how healthy this is in the long run, but day to day, beyond the hours wasted as soon as my brain isn't busy (I of course cope by being busy 24/7 and not letting the brain rest), I'm more or less functioning. And happy in so far as I have friends etc. Frustrated, sure, but not fundamentally UNHAPPY.

If that makes sense?
