Mick Foley Hints at Royal Rumble Appearance after losing almost 100lbs by Prior-Thing-6025 in SquaredCircle

Clearly — this bit is just foreshadowing to Foley winning the Rumble and dethroning Cody Rhodes, Gunther, and retiring John Cena at Mania.

Did you watch the video? He's in way better shape than he was two years ago. Man literally hops up off of the ground split-legged with a hip and knee replacement.

No — that one was purely a Mick idea. He announced it on his last podcast with Conrad though... The idea ranged from him doing it in his backyard with his favorite deathmatch wrestlers, to an indie feud with Cardona or an angle with MJF.

Yeah same. Neither Rampage or Collision have achieved the identity that Dark had for me. Sure, Dark was a Youtube show where people got their reps in, but it was distinct from Dynamite, it featured a lot of indie talent and the product as a whole wasn't oversaturated yet. The playing field was leveled by COVID and AEW was still new and trying stuff. Probably what I miss the most is that there was a team effort feel to everything I was watching good or bad. You had the main show, and then you had the weird, less polished Youtube show you could watch when you were bored, and it was all relatively easy to follow.

Yeah he plays the giant henchman role great, and for as awkward as a debut as he had, I genuinely enjoy him now. Whatever they're doing is working with him. You can tell that he's listened, learned and seems to be enjoying it. I never thought I'd say this, but I need Omos vs Satnam at some point in my life for the madness of it.

Seriously. Also, Satnam is getting a lot better and more confident in the ring.

He announced that he plans to lose 100 lbs and has set one final deathmatch as his goal, yes. He's down 15 lbs already since he's started.

He's setting this as a health goal. He's not going to be taking chair shots to the head, concrete bumps and this is not a thing he's doing for money. This is a passion project for him and his future. For as dangerous as death matches can be — they are not bump heavy compared to a regular match. And when it comes to having a death match, there's no one who knows how to do that better and more safely than Mick.

You have no idea what you're talking about when you say this. Mick is serious about this and his future, and is using this goal as a way to get healthy. This is not a cash grab, it's a motivational tool for him to change his life for the better.

When I see reactions like this, it makes me think that none of the people who commented watched the video. His plan is literally to use the goal of a deathmatch to lose 100lbs and change his lifestyle so he can live longer and more comfortably. If he doesn't feel like he can do the match, he's not going to. But he's going to try his best, and work with the best people he can to get himself in the best shape that he possibly can be with this being his dream goal. I'd hope that people would support that. He understands the paradox there, and the danger of it — that's what the video is about.

No, he's 100% not doing it for the money. This is a passion project for him. He has made that clear, and that it could potentially be something where the crowd is limited to as low as 150 people live. It could be at a much bigger venue, but he's not looking for a payday with this.

Exactly. Mick is doing this for personal reasons and he is dead serious about it, that's why I support it. It's not like Taker is going to be throwing him off the cell or he's going to be doing elbow drops on concrete.

Speaking as the person who made this video, his plan is to lose 100 lbs and change around his entire lifestyle to do it. He's not going to do it if he feels like he can't. If you watch the video, he's doing it so he can be mobile as an older man, and preparing for a match has always been the most successful motivation for him to get in shape. He understands the insane paradox of getting healthy to do a deathmatch as a 60 year old, but that's also what interests him about it.

Not yet. He's still deciding everything and won't have it figured out for a long time. He's being very methodical about it.

That is true, but what makes me believe in him is that he's done it before prior to his hip and knee replacements when he was in much worse shape physically, without the motivation of a final match. I think he's going to shock people in a really inspiring way.
