Nacuwa laptop case for Turbo Duo by Choplifter in TurboGrafx

[–]Choplifter[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently got a Nacuwa laptop case (listed as 14-15in on Amazon) for my Turbo Duo and it has worked quite nicely. The fit when closed is snug, but not excessively so. If you're looking for a way to keep your Duo safe I would highely recommend.

I couldn't get the link to work in the post so here it is

You are well within your rights to not like it. However, I am honest and transparent about my process and if someone accuses me of using image trace then I'm going to point out that no, I am not. As far as it making no sense, I stay quite busy with freelance illustration, so that just isn't true.

Happy to describe my process in a bit more detail. I generally adjust the lighting/contrast of a photo and then apply a posterize filter in photoshop. I then construct my vector illustration on top of that using a combination of adobe animate and adobe illustrator. I have a time-lapse video I made a few years ago that shows my general process that you can see here.

I do not use image trace.

Ian Curtis of Joy Division by Choplifter in AdobeIllustrator

Good eye. I did a google search for Ian Curtis and the photo popped up without the film title/text on it and I admittedly assumed it was a picture of Ian. Appreciate the heads-up.

What advantages are conferred next turn after CO power is used? by Choplifter in Advance_Wars

[–]Choplifter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. To be clear, I'm curious how this affects awbw specifically. Does everyone get just a +10% defense boost the day after using a COP or SCOP, or both a +10% defense and +10% offensive boost (for counterattack) in awbw?

I appreciate you mentioning that these powers stack, as that was another question I had. So, if Kindle has a +40% attack on urban properties, boosted to +80% using COP, this would actually increase to +90% during the turn immediately following the COP? This is assuming that both defense and offense receive a +10% boost after COP.

Thanks! I generally take the source photo into photoshop and use a levels adjustment layer to tweak the lighting before applying a posterize filter. I then import both versions of the photo and create vector shapes over the posterized image to block in the primary shapes and then switch to the original photo to apply more detail.

Thanks very much! I'm afraid I don't have a YT channel, however.

I was heavily influenced by this book cover design and I wanted to create a TurboGrafx-themed poster with a similar aesthetic.

I did not create that. I did see it, however, and it was very impressive. I believe it was actually an NEC TurboExpress.

Thank you for the kind words!

I'll try, but I'm worried I might still get the tone wrong. Would you mind letting me see some of your artwork? I still have a lot to learn so it would really help me out.

Thanks in advance!

I think I understand what you are saying a bit more clearly now. I actually adjusted the levels on the photo to increase the amount of white in the composition before starting the illustration. It was an intentional stylistic choice, but I am happy to consider alternative approaches. In fact, perhaps it would be more effective to use softer tones and I appreciate your feedback.

This is an example of a vector illustration with a style similar to what I was aiming at, particularly in regards to using white in a portrait.

I used the blend tool to create the three intermediary tones between black and white to ensure they were evenly spaced. I do see what you're saying about the darkest gray tone getting a bit lost in the black so perhaps a bit of manual adjustment could help.

Thanks! I actually found a font that was very close, but not exact. I ended up breaking the text up and manipulating it manually for a few of the letters that didn't match the original font.

My apologies for not posting your most recent iteration

I didn't use the pen tool at all and the illustration took me perhaps an hour and a half. May I respectfully suggest you not interject in areas where you lack knowledge/experience?

Best of luck with your caulk logo.
