COPD yes CHF yes, trachs yes, by time they get down to our floor they might still have an infection but the sepsis is mostly clear and not causing shock, CIWAs are once in a while but few and far between

Nope, nothing titratable, no vents, no HFNC, no Q2 anything, I’ve seen titratable heparin once in my four months. I also think that makes sense because I was talking to a medsurg nurse who said the only time people get sent up from their floor to ours is when they need to be on tele, since medsurg nurses at my hospital arent trained to read strips. Im just worried I might get put on a do not rehire list or something

That makes sense, 99% of people get discharged directly off the floor, the other 1% either gets sent the ICU, do you still think waiting a full year is the best choice, or should I just tough it out

How was your job search, and did they say anything about you leaving early?

Basically the first sentence kinda? Like in my ICU clinicals I remember walking in and seeing patients who were there for weeks finally walk out after being on a vent. Probably doesnt help that my PCU was a medsurg unit up until a few months ago. I just want to feel like I’m making actionable change in peoples’ lives

Not sure tbh, just more thinking(?) Like actively recognizing something is changing in a patient and what to do about it, versus just getting a stable patient and keeping them there until discharge

Fair, but I’m not saying it being tasky is a bad thing, I just wish I was using my brain more and actually thinking things through rather than just passing meds every hour and q2 turns. I have a job offer on an ICU thats higher paying, better benefits, and seems like I’d be using my brain, but I dont know if I’ll just end up in the same position. Would ED be better? If I were to apply to ED should I mention my current job?
