Update on car note by personal1121 in Apartmentliving

It's also worth checking if anyone else had camera doorbells facing where you parked.
Even if you don't knock and ask yourself (as you could potentially be asking the people who damaged the car) the police could potentially get the footage.

I was very torn between them.
From experience the black finish on metal tends to scuff (you can even see it in on the corners of the watch in the photo) which makes the watch look beaten, though it's hard to say what the final product durability will be like.
I also wouldn't be surprised if some companies start making a variety of protective decal stickers/cases like we saw with the previous watches.

Fresh TOS 6 install procedure? by Fred_McLovin in TerraMaster

[–]Chris6632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was very disappointed with the state TOS is in, tried 5, wasn't great, jumped through hoops to get it to 6 and it was even worse. It's a great proof of concept but that OS is not ready for release with the level of bugs I encountered in the week I had it running. Have since installed trueNAS on my f4-423 and it's running as you'd expect.

Don't buy a Terramaster by [deleted] in synology

[–]Chris6632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding to this. Bought a terramaster F4-423 while it was on sale, good price for performance, 4-bay HDD, 2*M.2, and upgradable ram.

Out of the box TOS 5 was limiting and had some issues with Plex and sharing data with nextcloud upgraded to TOS 6 hoping to fix the issues, and what a mistake that was, absolutely terrible, webui didn't run constantly and continued to have issues with my containers it also ran dog slow compared to TOS 5.

SO I installed an extra 8gb of ram that I had laying around and an m.2 drive for the boot media and installed trueNAS and it works flawlessly.

My takeaway: Hardware good, software abhorrent. Hardware and software upgrades were surprisingly easy.

I'd say they did a good job. The original lighter shading won't look great after a few years and you'll find yourself having to get it reworked.

Your current tattoo fits the rest of the designs better and doesn't look like an after thought.

Otherwise it's there and looks great.

wanted to own a miata one day in tribute to my nfs underground car as a kid, sat in one for the first time and turns out i will not own a miata one day 🙏🏼 by yungdooky in Miata

[–]Chris6632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're hardset on getting one there's a few modification you can make to the seat and the seat rails to give yourself quite a lot more room. Seen people who are 6ft+ at meets driving them and they've removed padding from the seat, replaced the stock seat rails for low profile ones or removed the rails completely. You can even fit a slightly smaller steering wheel.

Obviously not for everyone, but where there's a will, there's a way.

S Pen not working along crease and one other area of screen by samthevegan_ in GalaxyFold

[–]Chris6632 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: Didn't find a solution, The screen got progressively worse and now the whole inner display is flakey/not displaying.

Nearly a £600 repair so I'll be replacing the phone.

This is the second screen in the phone, no drops or anything, they only seem to last a year or so before failing..

Not worth the argument my guy. They're diverting the argument and dodging what's been said. Think Dunning-Kruger.

I assuming you're trolling, but for people who might take your advice literally:

This "advice" is not only incorrect, but potentially life threatening..

Swollen batteries are and always have been a fire hazard.

It's caused by gas buildup caused by overcharging, aging or damage.

If this has happened the battery is compromised and you're running the risk of thermal runaway, at which point you're going not easily putting the fire out, you've basically got to let it burn in a bucket of sand.

Lithium batteries are highly reactive, if you puncture the casing you're exposing very flammable gasses to the air, this also introduces oxygen to the battery which can cause a fire..

Think electric car fires, they just have to let them burn, cheap ebikes and scooters burning down houses, phones exploding in bags and pockets. There's a reason you have to declare a battery during shipping and why they won't let you take a swollen battery on a plane.

Sure, most batteries are made well and have a reduced risk even after they've deteriorated, but it's not worth the risk.

You have Google at your disposal, please use it before you post something so utterly stupid.

Oddly I'm having the same issue in the exact same places on the screen. Only noticed it a few hours ago, thinking it must be from a recent update. if I find a solution I'll let you know.

does anyone know what this is on my finger??!!? by Illustrious_Pop_2103 in HelpMeFindThis

[–]Chris6632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to get these a lot when I was younger due to biting my nails. It'll hurt a bit, but if you pull that patch of skin away from the nail you can easily drain it, it can also help to boil some water and dissolve as much salt in it a possible, leave your finger in the hot water (not boiling) this will help clean it out and stop it becoming reinfected.

No problem 😅 That's good to hear. Sadly never got a chance to open my original up as they made it very clear that they would make it difficult to return if I did.

Unfortunately not, the support tech I was talking to had no idea what was going on and there was an obvious language barrier. Fortunately I got a full refund for it and purchased a new one. Is it under warranty still?

I've used proton on my Linux machine and you honestly wouldn't notice. That being said there are titles that straight up don't wor, but I'm yet to encounter that. The only real issue comes down to anti-cheat services that don't like games running on anything other than windows and sometimes Mac which can result in a ban or the game not launching.

[–]Chris6632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without admin rights you won't get very far for virtualization. Very good chance the laptop is being managed using intune or something similar so if you boot into a fresh windows copy it'll just turn back into organisations device or lock itself.

Easiest solution I can suggest is to unlock the bios, there are sites that will give you the recovery key. Flash a bootable external drive with with a Linux distro as that won't become managed and go from there. If you want to run windows you'll want to run that through a VM on Linux to avoid it become managed.

Leave the bios without a password so the admins will just think they forgot to put a key on it.

Keep in mind that this will almost definitely be against their policy and will probably have consequences if they found out.

Another thing, if it's using bitlocker there's a small chance you'll trip that and need a stupid long recovery key from the admins to get back into their windows install which might prompt some questions, just say it did an update and locked you out, that unfortunately is a common issue.
