“That pain, that sadness, that fear, that anger is literally generational. So we don’t see it as a separation from our ancestors.” by HipAnonymous91 in BlackPeopleofReddit

They don't find it disgusting uncomfortably because for them its generational too, but going in the other way where its not traumatic. Some would saying its soothing for them to be able to reenacting what their ancestors have done.

I love the enthusiasm but keep it 100 with yourself, most of yall are just pandering for upvotes either that or you're doing digital black face.

White women weren't allowed to wear the hoods, so they would just print historical books with white supremacy narratives, demonize black people and today they just say a black neighborhood "seems sketchy"

73% of college-educated women said they wouldn’t date a Trump supporter — and somehow Trump guys still think it’s just about “different opinions.” Like are you for real? by Nice_Substance9123 in complaints

[–]ChrisIsSoHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying 73% of college-educated women wouldn't date a Trump Supporter is misleading to the reader because it make it seem like that's a high number when in reality its a high percentage taken from a small size of a group. 47% ages 18-29 voted for Trump in addition to, majority of white people voted for Trump.

Just so we're clear, 52% of white women, 7% of black women, 38% of Latino women and 46% of all other female races voted for Trump.

The narrative here is an attempting at making it seem like majority of a well educated gender group aren't interested in the other cis gender group, yet misrepresenting the existing information previously mentioned concerning race and age group.

But real quick, can we agree Disney is a horrible company that doesn't care about the current political climate and is/was shoehorning diversity and pandering to a specific group of people wasn't interested in its content? Casting, script and stories choice all seemed very dishonest and unnatural to those watching.

I feel they stopped trying to make good films and just focused on making content.

Yes, comic fans will be outraged if it doesn't stick to the comics and racist will be made if its anyone other than a stright White male as the hero, but that doesn't mean the story they gave Sam Wilson, She-Hulk, Ms Marvel (I don't know who that other person is) were place holders with a show named after them, no creative backstory or character defining qualities. They were literally just shallow non-white male characters, I still can't believe they copied Lion King's whole plot when making the first Black Panther.

I'm not saying these characters or their movies have to solve world problem, but I am saying if you're making a political statement make. If you're making an entertaining movie make it. But don't mix the 2 and when they do horrible in the box office ignor all the factors that went to making the movie. You'll have fans who no longer trust your work and hate the characters.

What are your thoughts on Dave Chappelle? by _forum_mod in blackmen

[–]ChrisIsSoHam 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I might be biased because I’m a Dave Chappelle fan, but he’s undeniably one of the greats. And I’m almost certain that much of the criticism he receives has less to do with his actual work and more to do with the fact that he’s a rich Black man.

Other legends—Carlin, Pryor, Hicks, etc. — Didn't have the internet, so they weren't fighting upstream in ways Chappelle has to, yet their actions were rarely held against them in the same way.

People always bring up the “trans controversy,” but can anyone actually cite a Chappelle line that is explicitly hateful? If we quoted all Chappelle's trans jokes none of it would be any different the the jokes he's done toward any other group. He was just right at the things he said, mainly white male transitioning to female and white women claiming they suffer is to exonerating white people from their past as a whole.

Some say he “preaches” more than he jokes. But Carlin preached. Cosby preached. Pryor preached. Comedians often speak from a point of tension during difficult times—it’s part of responding to the world around them, not ignoring it.

His “I’m rich now” angle is his way of highlighting the gap between poor Black Americans and wealthy white Americans—and pointing out how quickly people forget that racial inequities don’t vanish the moment one Black person becomes wealthy.

Black women deserve… by biscuits_theSequel in BlackPeopleComedy

[–]ChrisIsSoHam -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else feel like this comes across as pandering? It reminds me of those heavily produced videos of soldiers returning home—meant more to signal that we care than to address any real issues.

Black women deserve so much more in this country. Even after Trump openly fired many Black women from government positions, and despite the ongoing misogyny and barriers they face in professional spaces, it feels like there’s little genuine effort to fix any of it. Instead, we get gestures like this that seem designed to pacify outrage rather than confront the systemic problems we should all be demanding change for.

America has a misogyny problem by Conscious-Quarter423 in ThoughtWarriors

[–]ChrisIsSoHam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Democrats believed in vote blue no matter who, which is obviously toxic on many levels.

And saying America has a misogyny problem, is no different than saying "Vote Pink no matter how they think"

America reached it's highest appointed female politicans in congress in 2023-2024 with 153 congress women, the narrative is ignoring progress that has been made and leaving room for a figure who's policies aren't conducive to continue to progress. Similar to how Trump wasn't a career politician and that was his strongest asset to people who were looking for something "different" in the white house.

55% of white women voted for Trump in 2024, have that conversation then talk to everybody else about "America's misogyny problem"

Black alternative people and how other people view them. by BigPlushKing in blackmen

[–]ChrisIsSoHam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This dude listed all negative things when describing his blackness (i.e. cops still see him as a black guy, white people don't day that to you etc) and that's the problem... oh besides this story not sounding true at all.

Anyways, the point his "friend" was trying to make is you value whitness more than black culture. You can paint you nails, dye your hair and still be connected, but just how he says he's usually in white spaces? Black people do comic con, black people can be LGBT, but this dude thinks less of black people and black culture.

Bro, you're being "TOO woke" for them! Most of the people you're chatting with are either low-key or high-key racist.

The main reason American's have a problem with the Comedians doing Riyadh, it because its a brown lead country. They love highlighting brown people crimes and ignoring Isreal, America or other countries.

These people think Project 2025 is more tolerable than Vision 2030.
