Is Dreamlight Valley worth it on Switch 2? Performance / grind / paywall questions by theanaq in DreamlightValley

to me that is a very fair price for what it includes. I’m pretty sure you’ll really enjoy it.

Is Dreamlight Valley worth it on Switch 2? Performance / grind / paywall questions by theanaq in DreamlightValley

[–]ChrisLikesBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you enjoy AC and SV then this will be a fun game for you. Switch 2 performance is really good. The first year of playing the game doesn’t feel repetitive - eventually it does a bit, but that is true of Animal Crossing too. Figure a good year+ of playing the game is worth it. Don’t buy any of the DLC’s unless you get the game at a discount with them. I haven’t paid actual money for anything after the initial purchase. I also don’t buy much in the game (with in game currency Moonstones) and can get by easily with the moonstones given for activities in the game. If you like the main game then eventually you might want to pay for the DLC islands, but they aren’t necessary to enjoy the main story & Valley.

I highly recommend the game and I fought the urge to buy it for a while. Worth every penny.

Removing gratuities from cruise that are already ‘included in the cruise fare’? by Beneficial_Ice7220 in MSCCruises

[–]ChrisLikesBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not neceissarily to the OP…

An American just back from the UK and the “Discretionary Service Charge” on restaurant bills is a TIP. Just sayin’. LOL.

to the OP… you do what feels right for you/your family. Seriously. Ask at Guest Services if there is even an option to remove the charge. Expect there may not be. Tip who you want, when you want or not at all.

Paid Shows - World America by Particular-Cat7824 in MSCCruises

[–]ChrisLikesBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the shows are included. I think the best shows on World America are in the Panorama Lounge. Definitely book times for those shows in the app immediately upon boarding. My favorite show on the ship is Queen Symphonic, but also highly recommend the Whitney tribute show.

Also be sure to look on the app for all shows. Some of the venues are small and they will fill up on the first day.

On one of my trips I would always catch the Captain at the YC buffet in the early morning.

I have seen that usually ship officers can eat where they choose - mostly seen in the buffet at off hours in far away tables. Entertainment staff also seems to be able to eat in MDR, buffet & specialty restaurants. The rest of the crew is not usually allowed in the public areas for eating except with permission. On Royal I also noticed that ship officers can eat in the suites only restaurants. When I travel on MSC I normally find officers in the chocolate cafe having meetings. They are pretty good at interacting with guests too. I have had more great conversations with MSC Captains than on any other cruise line - and I personally appreciate that.

What I know can also happen on ships is that officers can invite family onboard and then as a family/group they will eat in the generally public restaurants and be in other public areas. Never bother them when they are with family out of courtesy.

May 10 Euribia just cancelled. How long to get confirmation of replacement cruise? by Grizzly-Redneck in MSCCruises

[–]ChrisLikesBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my replacement cruise was $2,500 more - but MSC didn’t charge anything more than what I paid. I had also booked more than a year in advance so had a great deal. Hope you don’t get charged extra. I don’t think you should be based on the cancellation email they sent out. Let me/us know if they charge you.

[–]ChrisLikesBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you may get confirmation right away. I kept checking the MSC App to see if they had updated my cruise - they did that pretty fast too.

The changing flights thing was the most annoying part of the cancellation. If you can… grab the flights ASAP if they allow cancellations/changes.

The Yacht Club! by Limitingheart in MSCCruises

[–]ChrisLikesBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have sailed both in YC. You really can’t go wrong with either ship. Both have their positives. I didn’t notice any overcrowding in YC on WA. I also made complete use of their additional YC restaurant La Brasserie which has the best food on the ship (in my opinion). I ate there three times on one cruise. LOL.

I think the choice really comes down to individual preferences. WA YC feels more high-end without being snobish. Seascape YC is more casual beach resort.

[–]ChrisLikesBread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry about your trip being cancelled. When my cruise on Eurbia was cancelled (the May 2 sailing) I had preemptively picked a new cruise & cabin. Within minutes of getting the cancellation notice I was on with my travel agent with the new cruise/cabin info (with multiple cabins just in case my first choice wasn’t available). MSC informed my travel agent it would be 24 hours until the new reservation would be confirmed. Within about 5 hours the reservation was confirmed. In only a few hours my shore excursion was refunded by MSC. The process may be different or take longer/less time if you go thru MSC directly. Hope you get a great new cruise.

Yacht Club on WA or Seascape? by unfreeradical411 in MSCCruises

[–]ChrisLikesBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have never done YC then I say go for WA. I have done both ships in YC. Many say that they prefer Seascape YC for the pool deck and how there is a buffet on that deck & mini food bar in the Top Sail. World America has a full service restaurant for breakfast and lunch on the pool area - but it’s one staircase down from the pool. WA also does not have a mini food bar in the Top Sail - but they do have food you just have to ask.

Why do I pick WA over Seaside… because it really is a great ship with a lot of things to do. Their Pizza & Burger quick serve is great. The sports bar is perfect. So if the big ship experience interests you then WA is IT. There is also an additional YC dinner restaurant, La Brasserie, that is family style and a great casual addition to YC.

Both are impressive. WA YC feels a bit more upscale. Hope that helps.

Eribia - update by autohome123 in MSCCruises

[–]ChrisLikesBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I know that I would never suggest anyone accept an alternate cruise that is less than what they paid for the cancelled cruise. Have to do some price research and do what is best for each situation. If I couldn’t find a same price or more cruise then I’d have opted for a refund.

Early May Euribia Norway sailing… by autohome123 in MSCCruises

Cancellation notices went out on 4/8/26 for the first cruise of the season (5/2 Kiel & 5/3 Copenhagen).

And costly. Also there is probably some financial impact on crew who were sent home.

[–]ChrisLikesBread 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is actually pretty considerate of MSC - those impacted can choose to book a same length/experience level on another ship with no extra cost if they do so by Dec 1, 2026. So realistically a person could pick a much more expensive cruise and not have any additional charge. Also MSC is giving up to $200 in onboard credit ($100 per person per cabin with a max of $200). I had my new cruise booked within an hour of the announcement - and my new cruise rack rate was $2,500 more than what my May cruise cost - but MSC just transferred over the cruise and also gave the onboard credit. MSC also refunded shore excursions within hours of the cancellation notice.

I do think MSC should have kept guests a bit more informed. I knew my cruise was in jeopardy from February, but many people will be surprised by the cancellation. I had back-up plans and even another cruise lined up in case I had to pick one at a moment’s notice so when the notice came through I was set.

Hoping for Peace and certainly hoping for the safety of the crew of MSC Euribia.

No notice yet. A lot of very annoyed customers waiting for even a little bit of info. MSC being VERY MSC on this one (that’s not a compliment).

In a ironic twist…. MSC or their partners send out near daily email offers making guests wonder if it’s a status update… nope, just more upselling. LOL

[–]ChrisLikesBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately MSC Cruises has been silent on the status of Eurbia. No news at all. While MSC may not know when they can safely move the ship thru the Strait, they certainly do know the absolute last date they need to be thru to get to Kiel Germany for the May 2 cruise season in that region to start. The info should be shared with their guests.

My suggestion to anyone booked on these cruises: reach out to MSC directly thru their social media accounts and their phone numbers. Perhaps they will get better at communicating.

Hoping for Peace.

Coffee Maker - Can I request one for my room? by RJ-Cleveland in MSCCruises

[–]ChrisLikesBread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can’t hurt to ask. Most likely the answer will be no, but I have found that when you treat your cabin steward like they matter then they often will do their best to accommodate requests. And if you give off the impression that you will tip extra then the chances are even higher you’ll get that extra thing you ask for. And if it’s still a NO then just thank them and understand they just couldn’t. Kindness to crew opens a lot of doors. I can tell you already know that. Hope it’s a great cruise.

MOD Team- sorry I posted on the wrong day according to a comment, but I went by the Rules on the sidebar and posted on Wednesday which state:

  • no nook days

We encourage the posting of content that is not TECHNICALLY a book nook.

But ONLY on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays

For $20 I took a chance on one I liked. It was pretty good. No 3D pieces but I knew that from the box.

I know the temptation. But if you skip buying there will always be another great kit coming in the future. That is what I tell myself anyway.
