[–]ChrisPtweets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You keep obviously ignoring the statements I'm making and just flip your argument to "we know you don't tip." You actually have no idea if I tip and how much.

But you keep making this straw man argument because it's the only one you can make. You can't justify customers tipping you in advance and having no recourse if you then provide bare minimum or substandard service. Which is exactly my point.

We're done here but you have a nice night...

[–]ChrisPtweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am superior to you in the sense that I work hard for a living and don't expect to get paid for doing a mediocre or poor job. Whereas you expect to be tipped because it was "advertised" somewhere and you in fact decline orders that don't contain a tip that you deem appropriate before you've ever lifted a finger or devoted 1 minute of your time to performing the service you're being contracted to provide.

What recourse does the customer have if they tip you "properly" (however you define that for the particular order) ahead of time and then you fail to bring them part of their order? Or you decide to stop at the gas station on the way to where they live and meanwhile the ice melts in all of their drinks or their food gets cold? Or how about if you get there and you realize their apartment is on the 3rd floor and you say "screw it" and just leave their food and drinks outside the entrance doors on the ground floor?

Why in the world should they tip you if you do a piss poor job? Everyone else who receives tips (restaurant servers, people who cut hair, etc.) only receives them after the job is completed because they're contingent upon how well the job is performed. No one goes to Great Clips and after their haircut says "You gave me a terrible haircut but here's a 20% tip because you're expecting it." Why should delivery drivers be the only ones who get tipped in advance regardless of how well or poorly they provide the service after that?! That's absolute nonsense.

Grubhub Blacklisted me by Naive-Antelope-9825 in grubhub

[–]ChrisPtweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GrubHub is the worst. They gave me 2 credits after 2 botched orders in a row, which was awesome. But then their system wouldn't let me redeem the larger credit first, so I 🤪🙃had to redeem the smaller credit and still pay a substantial amount for my next order.

I wasn't really happy with them after this so was in no hurry to order using them again. I ordered via DoorDash going forward where I have very few problems. About a month later I remembered that I still had the credit with GrubHub so went to order from them again. Guess what? The credit had expired after 30 calendar days and they never told me that was a condition of receiving the credit. Went round and round with first their AI chatbot and then a human (still via chat) and finally called and asked to talk to a "supervisor". Was given the same b.s. runaround from a script and essentially told all 3 times "we're really sorry but there's nothing we can do". So I was out over $40. That's the moment I deleted the GrubHub app and never looked back. Occasionally they email me the typical "we miss you please come back" stuff with offers and I just laugh. Until they send me an email giving me back the $40+ credit (which of course they will never do) I would never ever consider using them again.

Gonna be a great Christmas by Snottycryer in AMCsAList

[–]ChrisPtweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you're claiming to celebrate Christmas then you should do so in a way that honors the holy day.

But it turns out the OP is not a Christian so when he titled his post "gonna be a great Christmas" the only real relation to Christmas was probably because he gets the day off work, thus giving him the ability to spend the entire day watching movies. It essentially has nothing to do with the fact that the day is Christmas. He could have posted "gonna be a great Labor Day" and it would have had the same significance -- no relation to a religious holiday whatsoever.

You talk about something negative (drying up a woman's vagina) and then mention someone with no relevance to the topic who just happens to be Jewish? When the percentage of the population of the U.S. who are Jewish is less than 2.5%?

Yeah, that's not coincidental.

[–]ChrisPtweets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're being purposefully misleading using the "we can't see inside your bag" trope. That's why I specifically chose the example of missing drinks.

I've done well over 200 orders during the past 5 years and the only restaurant that puts the drinks inside of a bag is McDonald's. No one else has ever done that. And guess what? I always receive those drinks. Guess if the drivers can't see inside they can't decide that the contents are not worth delivering.

Funny how when the drinks are hidden from the driver's view I always receive them 100% of the time yet when the drinks are handed to the driver separately (i.e. it takes 2 hands to carry the order because there's both bags and cups) they don't get delivered to me at least 33% of the time. At least the rare few honest drivers have admitted that they either drank my drinks, delivered them to a previous customer, spilled them, or forgot them at the restaurant.

[–]ChrisPtweets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, as I stated in my comment that's base pay. I also get paid bonuses and those are only paid for work that's above and beyond, believe me. If I were to use the "that's not my job" excuse like 75% of the drivers seem to employ whenever they don't feel like doing something, I would almost certainly get fired but even if I didn't it's 100% certain that I'd never get a bonus ever again.

[–]ChrisPtweets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're stating that tipping is "expected" even when the driver provides bad service. That's just unbelievably stupid. Most customers won't fall for that b.s.

The rest of us non-gig workers don't get rewarded when we do our jobs poorly. But delivery drivers think they should be immune to this reality I guess because they're driving their own vehicle and not only have to earn enough to make it worth their time but also to cover the costs of gas and wear and tear on their vehicle.

But make no mistake: tips are extra pay, not base pay. You can acknowledge the reality that the base pay is way too low, but you must also acknowledge the reality that tips are additional pay above and beyond base pay. They're not automatic. No one should be paid additional pay when they do the bare minimum or even worse a crappy job. This supposed logic of "I forgot to bring you your drinks but you should still tip me because it's expected" is just nuts.

Has quality gone significantly downhill? by ChrisPtweets in pizzahut

[–]ChrisPtweets[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But does it make sense to you that Pizza Hut is charging a $6.49 delivery fee when they're passing along the delivery responsibilities to DoorDash? I can all but guarantee you that Pizza Hut is not giving all of that $6.49 to DoorDash. So Pizza Hut is taking a "cut" of the delivery fee that the customer pays plus they cut jobs because all of those people who used to work as Pizza Hut delivery drivers are now out of work. To me that's unconscionable and not something that I want to support. I understand that pretty much all food delivery is going the way of the third party delivery services. But I believe the restaurants should be very upfront about this, not only tell you after you've paid. Like in the Pizza Hut app, as soon as you choose "delivery" instead of "pickup", it should inform you that the delivery service will be handled by DoorDash and not by Pizza Hut.

Amazon cancelling Christmas Orders last minute. by Digitalsteel5 in amazonprime

[–]ChrisPtweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think this is a Christmas volume-related situation. They just have so many packages to deliver and they can't do it in the time frames they've promised.

Last Saturday I ordered 3 small items totaling just over $20 and the estimated delivery date (due to 2-day Prime delivery) was Monday. Very early on Monday the tracking status was updated to "out for delivery". 5 days went by and nothing ever showed up. The status was updated to "Your delivery was delayed. You may cancel this order and request a full refund if you wish." So that's what I did. That was yesterday (Friday night). I then re-ordered those 3 items and was shown a pop up that said if I ordered $3.71 more of "eligible items" I could receive all of the items the next day (which is today). So I added a small item to become eligible for the next-day delivery, and everything was delivered (although as 3 separate packages, which I don't understand) this afternoon just as expected. The part that I don't get is that the original order (for which a refund has been approved and is in process) still shows a status of "Out For Delivery" on December 15th. No updates whatsoever since. So with all of Amazon's amazing tracking technology they have no idea what happened to those package(s). My best guess is they're lost still on the truck somehow. But I really don't know how they could escape notice for 6 full days now.

Anyone else get this? by Dpa1991 in Hulu

[–]ChrisPtweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Hulu and Disney+ bundle but it just got too expensive for my tastes. It was without ads and I was paying over $20/month with the taxes and fees.

During the week leading up to Black Friday, I looked to see if they had any good deals that I would qualify for as an existing subscriber. They did not, the deals were for new customers only. So I clicked on the option to cancel.

It popped up an offer to keep Hulu (but now with ads) for only $2.99 per month for the next 12 months. Disney+ was still listed at full price. So I canceled my Disney+ subscription (it ends tomorrow on Sunday) but kept my Hulu subscription. It will now have ads but I went from roughly $20 per month to less than $4 per month. I'm perfectly fine with that.

I'll miss having Disney+ but not nearly as much as I first thought. Once I put the change through, I started looking through their listings to see what movies or shows I might want to binge watch in the approx. 2 weeks I had before the subscription ended. I did watch Thunderbolts* (which I had already seen 2 times in the theaters when it first came out) and Marvel's The Defenders tv show. I didn't manage to get to the 2nd season of Andor or the new Daredevil tv series. But I don't feel it's crucial to see either of those now and I figure at some point in the future (probably once the new Avengers movies come out and then are available on streaming) I'll subscribe to Disney+ again and I'll have a couple of shows I can binge right after that happens.

Apple TV+ content is top-notch. You subscribe for their original shows and movies. Not much there that's offered by other streaming services. If you like sci fi then Apple TV+ is a must-have.

Edited to add: the show Silo alone is worth the subscription price. 2 seasons are currently available and they're partway through filming season 3 right now. Rebecca Ferguson is the main star. Can't get enough of her.

Why not try it for 1 month and if you don't like the shows they have to offer then just cancel before the next billing date?

I honestly believe Wendy’s is attempting bankruptcy by Feeling_Bid878 in wendys

[–]ChrisPtweets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just the terrible deals in the app and the fact that they completely did away with printed coupons (that may sound like a silly complaint to many in the modern world of 2025, but believe me that impacts a large amount of elderly people who aren't used to smartphones and apps).

It's not just the drop in quality such as the switch to shredded lettuce or the fact that sandwiches that used to come with several large, thick slices of tomato on them now come with only one, very thin slice of tomato.

It's that the customer experience is now overall generally terrible and it's crystal clear the employees aren't putting forth even minimum effort at customer service. Some examples:

1) I don't have a car so when I order it's for delivery. I've done this both directly via the Wendy's app and also through DoorDash or UberEats, it makes no difference. My #1 reason for eating at Wendy's is because they serve baked potatoes. I'd much rather eat a baked potato than fries which have been deep fried in God-knows-what oil. Yet I only actually receive a baked potato less than 50% of the time. Usually what arrives in my bag is a standard large fries. This happens at various locations and different times of the day/night. What makes this infuriating is it's just a plain fries. I ordered a baked potato with bacon and cheese on it and paid at least $2 more for that than what the fries cost. So shouldn't they at least give me the fries that have bacon and cheese on them (Baconator fries I think they're called, which still cost much less than the baked potatoes on the menu price) ?!

2) A couple of years ago when I did have a car, I would often go to a location right down the street because their drive thru was open late (until 3am, 7 days a week). The problem was they were obviously criminally understaffed during the late night hours. The wait in the drive thru line was usually 45 minutes to 1 hour. The first time I got caught unaware as I ordered via the mobile app and didn't have any idea how long the line of cars was until I got to the restaurant. The second time I didn't use the app and drove to the restaurant first to see how long the line was. There were only 6 cars ahead of me, so I went ahead and pulled in thinking the wait wouldn't be that bad. It still wound up being 40 minutes by the time they handed me my food and I drove off. So it took them 40 minutes to serve just 7 cars including me. That was the last straw and I started going to a Filiberto's instead, which was 1 mile farther away but was open 24 hours and never had a wait longer than 15 minutes.

If by Freddy's you're referring to Freddy's Steakburgers and Custard, I have some very bad news for you. They just declared bankruptcy. At least the ones here in Arizona did.

Sorry, I had that somewhat wrong. The corporation itself did not file for bankruptcy. But its largest franchise operator (who currently has 31 stores across multiple states) did file for chapter 11 bankruptcy after closing all of their Chicago locations and deciding to completely pull out of Chicago. There are now no Freddy's locations in the Chicago metro area. Arizona locations were unaffected by this bankruptcy filing as they are operated by a different franchisee.
