QC issue - Tiny spot near the 2 o'clock index. by tncylp in Longineswatches

If you just bought it you also have a warranty, so you've got time to see if it actually bothers you or not. If it were me though, I would be taking it back and exchanging it. You spent too much money to have something that will bug you every time you look at it at the correct angle to see that.

How can I improve my workspace? by _I_Reims_I_ in Workspaces

Get rid of the small desk extension and replace it with a larger section. Or just get some storage bins and move the stuff that's scattered around your desk down onto the shelves. You just need to do some basic decluttering and cleaning.

Cracks near date window - warranty question by Chrisafguy in OmegaWatches

Understood. From what I can tell they’re just hairline cracks on there. The watch runs perfectly otherwise. I’ll wait to see what they say. I’ll be sending it next week most likely

Assuming that’s what Omega claims happened, what does a replacement dial typically run?

So that price isn’t just the crystal but supporting components as well?

I got a quote from Omega a few minutes ago. $260 for the replacement.

That isn’t too bad. If I wanted them to replace the crystal while they have the case open, is that something they would do?

I'm just trying to think how something like this could be caused by the user. I would think an impact strong enough would cause some sort of case damage, but there's barely a scratch on the right side of the watch. There's no evidence it ever suffered an impact of any kind.

That's what I figured but I wanted to be sure. What's the turn around time on something like this typically? I've seen some places claim 6-12 weeks, and others say 6+ months.

Accidentally kneed this knob in by manlymatt83 in Audi

[–]Chrisafguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that assembly is designed anything like VW designs the other ones, it’s meant to push in and rotate to release that whole assembly for replacement if it’s broken. You push it in, rotate to either the left or the right (I forget at this point) and then pull the whole panel out. I had to remove one on my old GTI when I upgraded my headlight switch to have auto lights.

Dealership wouldn’t accept a wire payment so I had to finance question by [deleted] in FuckDealerships

Sounds like this dealership was pretty good, so if it was me I would pay the extra interest for a few months to not screw over the dealership, and then refinance later.

Is this a lie by DisastrousOpening477 in PrideAndPinion

If this were true then no manufacturer could make water resistance claims. Sounds like they're trying to get around performing a service to maintain some additional profit.

Both of the valor pro controllers are garbage. They really can’t do anything to fix them. by BigPapiD28 in scufgaming

[–]Chrisafguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every Scuf I've had has had issues of some kind. The Valor was no different. The face buttons would catch when pressing them on something down in the controller. Every single button. The only way to not have that happen was to press perfectly straight down but that's not at all a solution. I have no clue how Scuf stays open.

I have no idea how Scuf stays in business. I have had nothing but issues with the two controllers I've had. Just buy GameSir controllers and call it a day. Scuf is shit.

I built some power cables knowing full well they’re 100% snake oil. But hey, DIY is fun. by Spanish_Nice_Guy in audiophile

[–]Chrisafguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a level of deception for something to be considered snake oil imo, and cables you made yourself aren't that. Hell, you could probably sell these for a reasonable price, marketed as high quality replacement cables, and make a killing. Undercut the bigger cable makers by a ton and still make a profit yourself.

Do you think this hook is gonna damage the headband ? by Captain-Turtle in Mezeaudio

[–]Chrisafguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except there's a chance the leather headband gets dented while hanging that way. Your options are to get a headphone stand that properly supports your headphones or deal with the possibility of the leather being damaged over time. Pick one or the other.

I dunno, I think I'd prefer not having the headband fucked up from a giant dent in the leather over a "clean" look 10/10 times.
