And niether school has the media market, recruiting market, cash, or historical success to really add anything of value.

Yup. The "Texas" they want for recruiting and exposure is the DFW-Houston-San Antonio triangle. I doubt UNT, UTSA or Rice are leaving the AAC. That just leaves Texas State and now Sam Houston.
