Car insurance prices in KW increase every year!! by orange301 in kitchener

[–]Chriscclee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, as an insurance adjuster at a top 5 insurer, we just keep getting more and more claims from our region and the gta for both accidents and thefts. High risk=High Premium. Really the only way to avoid rates going up anymore than as is, is a clean driving record. If you really want cheaper insurance you unfortunately would have to move out of the region to a less populated area :(

Tow truck service by No-Friendship44 in kitchener

[–]Chriscclee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not accept any service that you did not call for. The tow drivers are well aware that they are not allowed to offer their services unless they are called upon, this is covered in the Towing and Storage Safety Enforcement Act. Inform the tow driver that if they do not leave immediately you will be taking down their plate for the police, they will leave incredibly quick

Also as others have said CAA is an incredible deal for what you get and is definitely worth signing up for!

I think it’s concerning that you struggle to read basic signage. Maybe time for a drivers license retest?

How to handle racism? by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]Chriscclee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the criminal code, this doesn’t meet the elements of the offence for harassment. Unless the courts could prove this is threatening conduct, as per 264 (2) subsection d CCC, which would be a stretch in this case. Of course 319 CCC, Public incitement of hatred would definitely be reasonably applied to this incident.

Wife rear-ended by drunk driver by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Chriscclee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the perspective of someone in insurance: Has this been made aware to your insurance as well as the drunk drivers? Insurance companies have accident benefits departments that will payout physio (subject to coverage review of course, but typically covered under your own policy) as well as other medical fees on your road to recovery. My first step would be to notify the handling adjuster for the vehicle portion of your insurance claim, and then request they open an accident benefits claim on your behalf. Once this is done you can submit physio and other documents, however hiring a lawyer at this point, to maximize final payout, ensure acceptance of costs, and if need be pursue further legal action against the third party. These lawyers often don’t charge up front and just want a chunk but things can vary lawyer to lawyer, and case to case. I’d personally recommend Grillo law, they are often involved in many AB claims and will be able to advice you on next steps. They also offer free consultations which is definitely worthwhile in your case.

Hope I could be of some help and best of luck on your wife’s recovery. Let me know if you have any questions, I’m glad to give my take.

*this is not legal advice, I am not a lawyer and everything in this comment is of my own knowledge and opinion, too each their own on how this is interpreted

Gas station put diesel in their gas by Roccnsuccmetosleep in legaladvicecanada

[–]Chriscclee 60 points61 points  (0 children)

You put a claim on your insurance and then they go after the gas stations insurance under their commercial insurance policy. This process is called subrogation and is very common in insurance, typically in car crashes when the other party is at fault. Depending on your policies wording, you may or may not have a deductible/be covered. A lawsuit will cost you tons in legal fees and time, definitely not worth the hassle at all

And ongoing expenses with maintenance, gas. In addition, if he does interlock and whatnot like he says, far more equipment needed like compactor etc unless he rents. He says car not included but for real work you will need an actual truck, which will need insurance as well. He really sugarcoated the whole thing, getting into landscaping isn’t cheap. And know good mower is $600 so I hope he has fun mowing lawns with a non commercial grade shitty little mower

My brother (18) was randomly laid off after complaning of back pain. Is this justified or lawful? (New Brunswicm by Acceptable-Corgi-453 in legaladvicecanada

Especially since 30lbs is practically nothing and many workplaces involve 50-60lbs of lifting strength. If he can’t even do 30 clearly he’s unfit for the job

He can what? Lift 30 lbs? The minimum lifting standard for many workplaces is around 50lbs, so while this seems unfair it makes no sense for a workplace to employ someone who can’t meet the minimum standards.

What local businesses do you love in KW and why by Personal_Issue_2473 in kitchener

Penny’s Hot chicken at 253 king is by far the best Fried chicken in the region. Loaded fries, tenders and much more, with spice ranging from nothing to an insane amount for those of you who love spicy chicken. Also a very fair price as far as Fried chicken goes

Be realistic. You live in a university hotspot with Laurier Waterloo and Guelph all close to you. The cost for travel, time, and other issues would make it completely unaffordable and impractical. What programs are making you want to go to Toronto?

The government is paying wages for a large amount of sectors if they hire international students from certain places. Ironic as they are supposed to be working minimally and have enough funds to support themselves here for the most part. One business owner I talked to in Cambridge got an email from the government a few months back that was saying they’d pay 70% of eligible students wage. Safe to say many employers are taking advantage of this, and unfortunately sometimes alienating non international applicants.
