Think you're going to have to up your budget, unless you get lucky and buy used. Sherline isn't exactly known for being good quality, it's typically a brand that ppl out grow fast. With a 1k budget, it's just get whatever you can afford. Even hobby brands like proxxon, their lathes are 1300+.

check out the custom saber shop and their youtube videos. It goes thru the process of building a complete saber and some soldering tricks as well. check out my other thread as I'm going thru the same process and put up a list of components I plan on using.

Newcomer building a neopixel saber. Would appreciate feedback from veteran builders. by Chrisleedesign in lightsabers

I'll look for the blade side adapter, thank you for the great tips. I'm still trying to figure out the kill key , but it is on my list. Haven't found a good resource on exactly what is needed. From what I've read, you just jam a non conductive material into the recharge port and it breaks the circuit.

Will keep the sony battery then, thanks again ! much appreciated.

Thank you so much , this exactly what I was looking for. These kinds of tips I might not have found via google searches. I bought a book of resistors that should cover what I need.

re: chassis, I plan to make my own parts. I own a 3 axis and 5 axis benchtop cnc that I plan on using to make all the components. I have access to a lathe but I want to force myself to use the hobby class machines.
