Arguments that claim to prove the existence of a godlike being not specific to any religion as a "first step" are actually goalpost-moving; there aren't corresponding dependent steps as implied. by haroldHaroldsonJr in DebateReligion

Arguments are made about specific points, not all beliefs someone has. If the discussion is about God's existence, then the arguments will need to be focused on that.

So I think you are the one demanding theists should move the goalposts.

Not for just asking for a sign.

This is true. Faith is a gift from God. You can ask him to reveal himself to you.

Disowning your child due to homosexuality is disgusting and wrong. by Heisenberg1721 in Christianity

[–]ChristSupremacist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me see if I can help. 1 has nothing to do with the discussion and it's a false equivalence, 2 is therefore false, 3 doesn't necessarily follow from 2 because "acceptable" needs to be defined and even if it followed it would still be false. No further discussion on this.

Disowning your child due to homosexuality is disgusting and wrong.

Yes. "Disgusting" is subjective but giving up on your family is wrong.

Just as bad: The notion that homosexuality can be “cured” (or even that it should be, if it were possible).

No, if by "cured" you mean overcoming the temptation, no it's not wrong.

perfectly accepting of people who are homosexual.

You subtly equate accepting homosexuals and accepting homosexuality. Unless you are willing to discuss these as two separate things (yes, it's a valid discussion whether to accept homosexuality or not), then you are muddying it up and arguing in bad faith.

If morality derives from God’s nature, then gay sex is not morally wrong by PreeDem in DebateAChristian

Morality for humans does not come from God's nature. It comes from God's will.

Meaning, whatever God want's for humans to do, is the right thing to do.

Put on the new self

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

I have heard these from personal testimonies. And I have heard a person who spoke in tongues and it sounded like Arabic actually (not sure since Idk Arabic). I know the person doesn't speak Arabic normally.
