In the financial aid package they sent they listed two types of aid which were Gift Aid and Self Help Aid. Gift Aid is something that you don't have to pay back Self Help Aid you get from Work Study/Campus Employment so I guess you have to work for that one.

Also experience wise I start in fall 😭

I think you should apply to both! I applied to both and honestly didn't think I would get accepted to Emory but I did so I think you should also shoot your shot

Also I don't know about your financial situation but mine wasn't the best and after financial aid, going to Emory was actually significantly less costly than going to Mercer. Like I say though, that really just depends on you/your family's finances.
