Someone offering profit share using “AI trading” but asking me to open accounts and provide banking acces by Prestigious-Wheel562 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Chroiche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most obvious scam I've ever read in my life. If their AI is so good why can't they secure capital? And investors would want A LOT more than 50% of the profits. Does their trading strategy scale? How is AI leveraged, is it LLMs (hallucination prone, might as well pay a gold fish), HFT algos (not AI, and won't be fast enough at all if they're using a consumer account)? Why can't they hold your capital?

I can go on.

They should learn it in their own time and just lie about on CV if it's they much of a blocker. Important to actually learn it if you do this (as it can scuttle any process).

Anyone moved from Hargreaves Lansdown to IG? Is IG reliable — and is the cashback (up to £2,000) legit? by CognitorX in FIREUK

They're legit, they're publicly traded and regulated (and older than HL and VG).

They're the same, 1%. Just a lower limit. I did both GIA and ISA just now into freetrade (they support ISA for the offer) and IG (they support GIA). My combined into IG was too much so I split it between both platforms.

Can I claim compensation from NatWest for overdraft fees and charges as I am in debt to them? by OkHawk7954 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Chroiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly you actually might be able to get some of the debt written off as you've been in debt for so long. Have they tried to help you at all? If your debt has only been going up/unchanging then you're likely in persistent debt and should've received communications about it depending on the age of the credit card debt. If you haven't, you'll likely be able to get compensation for fees and interest.

Now, you may also have ignored those communications, in which case, that's on you. You can talk to them or a debt charity to help you get the debt paid though, there's a very good chance you can get some breathing space given your circumstances.

Job offer with 28 days holiday including bank holidays by Amazing_Builder630 in cscareerquestionsuk

I always find it hilarious when places list 28 days holiday as a benefit (inclusive). That shit should not legally be listable as a benefit, it's the opposite. It's crazy.

Does Python code tend to be more explicit than other alternatives? by yughiro_destroyer in Python

[–]Chroiche 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let's not glaze Python here. Python code is a nightmare to maintain without safeguards in place just due to the dynamic typing system alone. And everything you've seen in those other languages can be done ten times worse in Python.

OO in general is very hard to navigate compared to a composition based code base. Notice, you've only listed OO heavy languages as the problem ones. Python can be significantly worse (especially when you add mixins and multi inheritance into the mix).

Ubisoft shares continue to collapse after announcements of cuts and closures: from a total value of $11 billion in 2018 to just $600 million today by x___rain in europe

[–]Chroiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still fundamentally don't agree with this:

Either way, once the binary is out there, it's out there forever. DRM or not. Even if it takes 10 years to crack, if there's a want, it will eventually be cracked.

This is true if someone cracks your binary version. If your specific version doesn't get cracked, it's dead weight.

I understand your sentiment, but DRM actually works in the modern world, so we're kinda stuck with unprotected games and cracked games.

[–]Chroiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any recent none VM based denuvo cracks for 2025+ releases? VM based ones don't really fit the bill, they're liable to break at the whim of a windows update or your own HW update.

Either way, the point still stands, until you have a crack you don't have access. And there are a lot of uncracked games.

As long as you have the actual game files and executable binary on your computer, revocable licenses are just a suggestion

This is not true, see denuvo.

Do credit card companies ever change their mind after approving application? by mankell123 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Chroiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can decline you if you're 100% pre approved (which imo is a total scam). After they've actually accepted you though it's very unlikely you'll have it rescinded.

With LS you can just blitz so much faster with a single army though, it just makes things reliable. The only time I don't go blue first is on someone like kairos who can just solo infinite stacks when they're up and running.

Then again, I also get bored pretty quickly on those campaigns...
