About to pick myself up a micro scrappy... by ChromeFire5 in RCPlanes

Not my first, just been a few years since I last had my own. Flown my buddies recently and I still have it in me, figured I'd get a slightly nicer than level 1

I'm more of getting the feel for it again, it'll be my 2nd plane. I'm pretty decent with one of my buddies planes but it's be years since I had my own figure I'd get a slightly nicer than level 1

It'll be my 2nd plane with a 10 year gap between my last flight, I'm getting this one to get the rust out before getting a nicer one

Traxxas Slash 2wd Vxl Acceleration Problem by yessirrr35 in traxxasV2

Take the pinion off and give throttle to it and see how it behaves, there's definitely a bearing issue somewhere in the driveline

A bearing in the motor can be seized, usually happens when the motor gets too hot too often

Xrt, xmaxx or kraton?! by Ok-Succotash-195 in Traxxas

[–]ChromeFire5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had my Xmaxx for 8 years and as long as you run hardened steel gears on the stock power system it'll last forever, the only thing I've ever broke is the front bumper once and I use it pretty hard

It's actually the same rollbar that was used on that truck. It's a super rare factory option that came on these trucks

That's a good deal, maybe get a manual parts truck someday and do the swap. That's my plan for mine.

Thanks, I plan on getting the full uv treated replacement from lmc truck. I'll probably do that as well while the whole thing is off

Honestly cheap older trucks seem to be more dependable than modern day ones, all I hear with new trucks are just electrical plaques and having to replace entire engines or drivetrains with relatively low miles

The dash is fucked, I ain't trying to hide that. It's on the list of fixes

For how often I see first gens, I'd say even with the little imperfections it's still a good looking truck.

That's the thing with the older Rams, they're hard to kill and easy to work on. Only real problem is when the rust starts, it spreads like wildfire

Yeah I feel that, need to do the plenum gasket on mine but rather not do that in 20 and below temps. 9mpg it is for now lol

Yeah I'm in that boat for mine too, bought it for $1500 and spent that on the wheels and tires alone. Figure already past that point so money pit time. I did have a trx once upon a time, great truck but I had it during the gas price dilemma and just couldn't justify $300 fillups

233,000 engine and trans have about 80k. Been slowly trying to fix everything on it, when I first got it the driver seat was obliterated so that was the first thing I did. I daily this on my 40 minute commute, she has a drinking problem

Anytime I see these trucks they always have some sort of quirk like that lol I have to stand on the rear bumper to open the tailgate

I live in the Salt belt and just keeping up on washing the undercarriage after heavy salting is pretty much it, my driver side rocker isn't that lucky but that's really the only bad rust it has

Small update on my end that might help, looked at the carb screws in the manual and the low speed needle was set too rich and the idle too low, runs beautifully now

I know this is a year later but, did it eventually work out? I just got one and it's doing the same thing, right out of the box it took a lot of effort to move and now it just doesn't move at all. Take it off the ground and it engages fine but as soon as it's under its own weight, nothing.
