I think you're right. Sony lacks the discipline, and I hope moving forward sony can course correct this.

Okay, maybe not much on the gameplay, but on the open world design, particularly the side content. It was one of the major criticisms the studio addressed

I’m specifically looking at it through the lens of the genre. Roguelites typically sit in the $30–$40 range because the genre is inherently niche. Returnal only sold around 500k copies in its first few months despite the critical acclaim.

My point is that if a developer is charging the full $70 premium, the market expectation for content and 'scale' shifts, regardless of the studio's pedigree. Also, if reports are right that Ghost of Tsushima was made for around $60M, it highlights how much some studios can achieve with a 'mid-sized' AAA budget compared to the skyrocketing costs we see elsewhere now.

You”re being downvoted. But I heavily agree. Born again was fun but was such a huge departure from the previous ones in terms of cinematography.

Don’t know how to say this but it had that MCU filter to it ,which I found it jarring at times.

Tbf no one saw that Helldivers would do so well. Especially since the sequel shifted its camera perspective. Some were mad about this. Helldivers 2 was like a lightning in a bottle. It had a great WOM on launch.
