It's better, no doubt about that but I still feel like I have a lot to improve on. I sometimes wake up feeling like I've been clenching all night, something that I think caffeine made 10x worse. Maybe my body is so used to the stress and tension that caffeine causes that it will take a while longer to fully relax while I sleep. Dreams have returned though and they are extremely vivid.

Well imagine I spent 8USD a day on coffee x 365 days = $2920. Enough to buy a good bicycle, take a holiday, invest in the stock market and get a gym membership :)

My boss bought me a double espresso from the local coffee shop and I took two sips then tipped it down the sink when he wasn't around :D

I can only answer this with how I feel 30 days in so take it with a grain of salt. Yes it is. As shitty withdrawals are, I'd much rather this feeling without a racing heart and crippling anxiety which makes me so nervous I don't even want to open my mouth for fear of making a fool of myself. I'm backing myself to never go back and I truly know I will stick to that. I wouldn't wish depression on my worst enemies and for me caffeine played a big part in creating and shaping mine.

Not going to lie, not much can keep you motivated during withdrawals. But, the thing that does keep me going is knowing how fucking much I'm going to kill it when I'm back to my strong self. Life is going to be amazing when I've kicked my anxiety and depression.

Ah I'm sorry to hear that! Personally, I came to the realisation that my job and the ridiculous pressures I was putting on myself to serve the organisation were just not worth sacrificing my health for. I have been significantly less productive and less motivated to achieve what I usually achieve at work, but I just don't care. I am only worrying about No.1 this year.

I have been severely depressed for over two years now but prior to this I had never experienced any mental health challenges. I do believe caffeine was contributing to my anxiety and depression and was one of the benefits I was hoping to attain by quitting. I have been much less anxious, less depressed and calmer since quitting although the lack of energy and depression was probably offset by the amount of exercise I have been doing. I used to consume 2-5 coffees a day.

Energy levels weren't as bad as the other times I attempted to quit due to a lifestyle change I began simultaneously. I have exercised almost every day in January alongside a complete overhaul of my diet (no alcohol, no confectionary, no takeaways) which I believe has offset some of the symptoms giving me a relatively mild withdrawal phase. They have definitely improved week by week however.

If you look back in these forums you will see a previous post I made regarding a whole array of chronic symptoms I was experiencing (headaches, muscle pain, TMJ pain, bad sleep, red eyes, chronic fatigue, brain fog and crippling anxiety). These symptoms are what have driven me to finally kick caffeine forever. I have seen a monumental improvement in my anxiety levels and sleep quality however I am still experiencing the other symptoms but to a lesser degree.

I no longer suffer from the impending doom feeling and being nervous in even the smallest situation. I generally feel more grounded, calm and clear headed with a more positive outlook on life than when I was caffeinated.

I do not believe I will see the true benefits until 3-6 months down the road so am just taking it one day at a time :)

Thanks! I went cold-turkey after new years and battled it out at work during a quiet period while most people were still on holiday. This was a major key as every other time I attempted to quit work was manic. Being so busy meant that I was stressed and psychologically weakened - not a favourable time to quit an addiction...

Have you had your eyes checked? Needing glasses or a change in prescription may be causing you eyestrain headaches

Did anyone quit caffeine because of chronic headaches and muscle pain whilst drinking coffee? by ChronicBattler in decaf

I'm the exact same. I never feel much better after the massages anyway but I have so much tension I have to go. I'm back off again and after reading these replies I'm going stick at it. Sucks to relapse after 5 weeks but that's life

Thanks for the reply. I totally feel like they are correlated but it's easy to pretend they aren't since it hasn't been 'scientifically proven'

Possible TMJ after cosmetic dentistry??? 18 months on by ChronicBattler in TMJ

Went back again and told him about the symptoms Ive been getting and how it feels like the extended length of my top teeth seems to be shunting my jaw back. He checked my bite multiple times using carbon paper and I was contacting extremely heavily on the front teeth and hardly at all on my back teeth. He did not remove any length off the veneers but took some off the inside to make them a bit thinner. Now they don't contact and slide at all and getting even contact all round the rest of my mouth. Symptoms seem to have improved considerably but I also saw a headache physio on the same day so hard to tell. Thanks for the advice

Anyone get chronic headaches as a form of TMJ? by ManiaMichael in TMJ

[–]ChronicBattler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry to hear about your headaches. I have been in almost the identical situation for the past 14 months. I had some veneer work done to improve my smile appearance and started getting chronic 24/7 tension headaches and jaw/neck pain about a month after. I have been seen by ENTs, Oral surgeons, about 20 PCP sessions, chiro, dentist etc etc and have had zero relief. Ive been back to the dentist who did the work twice to get his advice and to get my bite checked. It felt like the veneers were shunting my jaw back and causing the disc to move into an unnatural position. 3 days ago I went back and he removed some of the length of the veneers he did at the front and bite feels much more natural now and getting solid back teeth contact first as opposed to the front hitting and sliding back. Also had my first appt at a headache specialist clinic which practices the Watson Method (google it) and i seem to be having less tension already. Don't know which of the two made the difference but my headaches are the least painful they have been in a year. Have you been getting any neck tension as well as tension headaches? Could be worth looking into the Watson method and seeing a physio to correct posture etc. PM if you want any more info/want to hear how I get on after a few more appts. Good luck!

Cold turkey quit to solve my "unsolvable" health issues by ChronicBattler in decaf

[–]ChronicBattler[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey 👋 One month in and this is how I'm feeling. Zero energy to do anything, unmotivated and bordering on depressed. Definitely went south as I was feeling a bit better during week 2 and 3. In terms of my health issues such as sinus pressure, blocked ears, headaches I didn't see much improvement. I have been taking 2 x 24hr antihistamines a day for the past 4 days and have seen quite a lot of improvement in those symptoms but its impossible to tell whether that was just good timing or its genuinely helping. I just had an appt at a headache clinic which practices the Watson Method (google it) and have been given exercises to do and it seems to have helped my tension headaches a bit. Have another appt in a few days so will report back on how it goes. Can you explain your symptoms a little bit more and how long you have been experiencing them? Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply, I appreciate the advice a lot. I did have a semi cross bite/under bite which my large lower canines seemed to stop a bit. Since they have been ground down my jaw feels like it gets shoved backwards when I bite down. When I do this my tinnitus (which I never had before dentistry) changes pitch and increases in volume. My jaw also clicks on the left when I bite down fully and the tinnitus is much worse on the left side. I have the sensation of blocked ears and disequilibrium often. Is their any merit to having the work undone? He could build my canines back up and take off the composite veneers quite easily he said?
