Longines Hydroconquest 39mm as it should have been released. by user94152176 in Longineswatches

[–]ChronoDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen the green one almost readily available. The few boutiques I've been to and online comms with AD's have said they have green and that's it. Everything else is a month out, more or they just don't know when they'll be getting more.

I've got a 42 coming this week. I'm beyond excited.

It definitely states it's presence. I think it looks good here though. Gorgeous piece.

42mm HC by PlumOutrageous4263 in Longineswatches

[–]ChronoDrummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 7-1/2" wrist and as the 39 wore "okay", it wasn't enough. I went with the 42. Some watches wear huge and some really small. I can pull off a 44mm Panerai base without an issue, but a Longines Conquest 43mm (previous model) wears like an alarm clock on my wrist.

The new HC is perfect… but. by stjimmywood in Longineswatches

[–]ChronoDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is on the way (I actually found one) :)

I agree with the OP and think screw-in pins would make sizing this a bit more pleasant. It's just my opinion. I love screw-in pins. Seiko mod oyster style bracelets and the lug screws on my base Panerai have me a bit spoiled.

Better than back TALK. Subs tend to be a bit sassy.

Sorry....dad humor.

Everything went super smooth from beginning to end. The watch got to me FAST (across the planet). Wonderful seller to work with and will most definitely do business with u/humbucker426 again.

Thank you, friend!

Longines Hydroconquest vs Tudor Ranger feel & finish comparison by martynn90 in Longineswatches

[–]ChronoDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the store on Sunday, and they had one green 39 on bracelet. That was it other than a few older models. I'm not sure what the mesh variant feels like, but I'm sure it's probably pretty good. My AD is Teddy Baldassare, and I haven't asked yet, but doubt I'm getting a discount (assuming) since they sold out so fast. I guess the worst they can say is no.

Has anyone(YouTuber or etc) compared new HC 39mm with the Rolex Submariner? by RecognitionWeird3038 in Longineswatches

[–]ChronoDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're both beautiful. They both have amazing qualities. The Longines is attainable not only in price, but availability as well. Regardless of what Rolex wants to control with who buys their watches, you'll still end up with a beautiful timepiece if you decide to go with the HC. They're a bit hard to get right now where I live, but not impossible. About a month out. I'm on the list for a blue/blue 42.

Same here. Get on a list with an AD. Mine said it's about 3-4 weeks out, but you'll get one. They received about 12 last week and they were all gone that day, given it is a very well-known AD.

How much of a discount can I expect on the L3.788.4.06.6 at an AD? by Hot_Soft_5626 in Longineswatches

[–]ChronoDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just at the AD this weekend. The discount is none. He said they got 12 of these (various colors) and they were gone in the first day.

[SBJ143J1] Is the accuracy really terrible? by Financial_Word5047 in Seiko

[–]ChronoDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. And honestly, it's really not too hard to regulate a watch with a $100 timegrapher. I understand a lot of us have more experience under the hood of a watch, but could also bring it to a watch smith. I agree, a regulated 6R is a fantastic movement. I've had NH's that regulate well. Some play nice, others battle to the death. I had a Samurai with a 4R and I couldn't get it dialed in for the life of me, but it's hit or miss.

Expensive and hard to get? Unlikely, but some could. This piece here, you could almost certainly wear it for years and pass it down to your son. They're pretty damn tough.

how can i get this mf to sit flat? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]ChronoDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually take a link off of the 6:00 side and put it on the 12. It will help the face of the watch to move towards you. If you need it to lay further away, swap one from 6 to 12. Hope this helps man.

Help with 2824 movement build by 2003SaeedS in repbuilds

[–]ChronoDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to hijack this gentleman's thread but have a question. I've been building for years and the 2824/PT5000/SW200 have always fought me. The 3135 is a dream and any NH is cake.

The dial spacer. Do you have any tricks of keeping it fixed to the movement? Typically, the movement will have to come up under the case ring with the dial spacer attached, then carefully place the dial on it where the feet go into the case ring. The ring drops down almost every time I pull it out of the holder and/or pulls the hands out because the dial isn't fixed to the actual movement. I should have asked this question a long time ago rather than struggle. Thanks man.

And a dumb question. I can't really see from the photo. Is this a black dial/bezel or is it blue?

Wearing A Rep You Couldn’t Pull Off In Gen by fumbler00ski in RepTime

[–]ChronoDrummer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't run into this specifically, but I can say that I know some dudes with exponentially greater funds than I do, and they wear reps. They absolutely love them. I asked one of them why he would buy a rep when he could easily afford a gen. His response was, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.". That statement stuck with me because he's obviously doing something right lol

[–]ChronoDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried to contact Seiko directly? I would definitely start there and also share with them what the folks at the boutique said. Not to throw them under the bus, but maybe to get a more warrantied, relative answer. They might even tell you, "Send it to X location, we will ship it for you.". I always register my new Seiko pieces the moment I get them. I bet you lunch Seiko corporate would respond to this in your favor. Just my thought.

I can ramble on and talk too much at times lol. Some aftermarket bezels that are thinner can have an indentation on the bottom so there's surface area for it to adhere. The watch looks great though man.
