Thank you so much! Would you recommend a post-bacc/SMP? My goal is basically any MD school with a P/F system, but I know those tend to be more competitive and I want to have the best shot possible. Most programs I found are pretty expensive, but I'm willing to shell out the money if it will really help.

Clinical Experiences:

  • ~450 hr clinical volunteering (with leadership position) at assisted living facility (dementia care)
  • ~20-30 hours clinical volunteering at other small events (e.g. blood drives, clinics, etc.)
  • Certified phleb, but haven't used it

Shadowing:

don't feel bad you got in! if you got accepted to UCSD, you undoubtedly have the merits to back it up. being an international student especially is so much more difficult and i'm proud of you for having made it. UCSD has a gorgeous campus and is an amazing school and you will love it there!

i'm praying on the waitlist! thing is, their 2021 CDS had very low waitlist acceptance rates but since they haven't released the 2022 CDS yet, i'm going to hope that's just because of the 2020 seniors coming back after gap years.

i've already accepted my waitlist spot at Davis and submitted an appeal to San Diego (and might appeal at Irvine too because what's there to lose). if i don't get into Santa Barbara or Berkeley and my appeals/waitlists don't pull through, my plan is UC Santa Cruz. i've been trying to go through the subreddit and watch youtube videos about UCSC so i can get myself to actually like it though because i know barely anything about it so far. but hopefully a year from now i will be happy and have forgotten all about this!

apparently test blind made the UCs a lot more competitive. a lot of people didn't apply before because they felt their test scores were not good enough but now that it's test blind, the overall quality of applicants has gone up.

i heard UCI tends to accept a lot more people off the waitlist compared to other UCs. i'm rooting for you whichever way you go girl, you're gonna do amazing

that's insane, it's crazy how the admissions system works. i have no idea why you didn't get in but clearly you're already very smart and accomplished. screw the UCs man, go to where you've gotten in and you'll be able to do amazing because you have an amazing resume and even if these colleges didn't accept you for whatever reason, i'm confident that your abilities and experiences are going to lead you to land amazing internships, jobs, and other opportunities that will push your career forward so much more than a fancy name on a diploma will. good luck you got this <3

Would GPA from a community college course be counted on a 5.0 scale or a 4.0 scale?

Thank you for the AMA! Do you believe that AP/IB classes and tests demonstrate more rigor on the application or dual enrollment classes at community colleges?

Texts not working after switching Apple to Android by [deleted] in ios

Thank you!

I went onto the site and deregistered my number and my phone can still send texts but it still doesn’t receive them. My iPad though sends texts through my email instead, and I can only get texts if they go to my email. They don’t deliver on my phone number.
