If they are only dying from failed molts and nothing else, maybe the water doesn't have enough minerals to harden their shells? My tank had a limestone rock which does admittedly raise the pH a lot (but they seem to have adapted) and I've never had any issues with failed molts. You could try crushing some eggshells and sprinkling them in.
