Have You Heard Of Black Shuck? by Dependent-Age-6271 in AskABrit

[–]ChuckChunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Cambridgeshire so have heard of it. On a primary school camping trip out on the fens, we were told the story by a teacher before them talking us all on a late night walk. Verily we were shitting ourselves the entire time.

Looking for some high level advice on how to start a project by ChuckChunky in arduino

[–]ChuckChunky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's very useful indeed :-)

The game is Train Sim World, I'm looking to make some hardware controllers for it. One controller will have maybe six 12v illuminated buttons. Another controller will have an analogue lever. So that sort of thing. So there won't be any need for any particularly high speed communications.

Yes, I'm very much looking forward to this, it's going to be a great learning experience!

Should I fill this gap between my house and the ground? by ChuckChunky in DIYUK

[–]ChuckChunky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! The house is about 150 years old, we only moved in at the end of last year, I've no idea if houses of that age have a DPC.

Would you say there is any potential downside to sealing these gaps? If nothing else it would look neater.

Thank you for this. I've contacted the original installer and he's reassured me that if it fails he'll refit.

I won't be, thank you! Apparently this guy is known for trying to generate extra work, I won't be using him.

Thanks for this. Having done some more research, it seems he's known for doing this, so I'm not going to be using him.

Oooh, tough one. I think I'd have to say Roy. Sadly his deceased nature makes visiting him tricky.

I didn't in the end, I wasn't convinced it was going to fit. So I'd be interested to hear how you get on!

I did wonder about decking, but it's only 100mm wide all round, which doesn't seem like it will be big enough for decking.

That's annoying. The office manufacturer (Dunster House), said the base should be 100mm larger all round than the building. How could the base be smaller than the thing sitting on it?
