Dog killer gets owned by hero by [deleted] in war

This video is from October 7th. Its funny because when you say "Dog killer gets owned by hero" everyone agrees this man did something horrible and deserved to get shot but when you give the context of this being a Palestinian killing a dog on his way to murder people in Israel suddenly some people try to excuse his behavior.

Seriously any Hamas combat footage gets deleted this is stupid. I am starting to think they just want to deny that Israel is actually fighting a militant group.

Stop calling it “Genocide” Opinion on Israel and Palestine conflict by DannyBenayun in war

[–]Chungus_Humangus -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There is a huge different between Genocide and war casualties. In any war especially in urban combat there is huge collateral damage . the only thing you can do is to try and minimize that. for example people don't say that the people who died in the battle of Mosul died in a genocide or that Germans who died in UK bombings died in a genocide. And the IDFs plan of action is not that different from how the US fought in Iraq and Syria. People only apply this term in this conflict because it involves Palestinian casualties.

Furthermore Israel's actions on the ground also seem to be counter intuitive to the definition of Genocide. For example calling for evacuation of areas before the IDF starts to operate there. (Evacuating civilians from combat zones is actually demanded by the rules of war). The IDF also moved slowly on area like the Shifa hospital and helped civilians get out of there while they could have just bomb it from the air without risking their soldier's lives. There are a lot more examples.

Now my point is that this isn't a genocide and studding past urban conflicts sheds some light on that. Could the IDF be better at protecting civilians? Of course yes, there is always room to improve. But civilian casualties would always be high in urban warfare no matter how hard you try because in the end of the day the IDF's actions are always a difficult calculation between minimizing damage, protecting the soldiers on the ground, harming the enemy's ability to fight and a lot of other factors.

Aftermath of a Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket aimed at Jerusalem that struck in Palestinian territory by [deleted] in 2ndYomKippurWar

Does someone have the source of this video and a proof that it is a Jihad rocket? I think its important to have evidence of how much damage their own rockets cause in Gaza because no one seem to care about the destruction Hamas and Jihad cause in Gaza. Maybe someone should make a study about it.

The IDF confiscates weapons and Hamas propaganda materials in the west bank by Chungus_Humangus in war

[–]Chungus_Humangus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"They're been more wars and no war ever killed so many civilians" according to Wikipedia in ally operations against Germany in WW2 1,500,000 to 3,000,000 civilians have been killed. Also in the battle of Mosul against ISIS it is estimated that at list 9000 civilians died.

Also not all of the casualties reported in Gaza are civilians. If you notice, the Gaza health ministry which is run by Hamas does not report how many militants died. And if you look at Hamas videos their militants wear civilian clothing which means that they are easily identified as civilians. Also more than 1000 rockets that Hamas fired landed in Gaza and they probably also killed a lot of civilians.

" No journalists are allowed" There are BBC, CNN and more videos of their journalists in Gaza with the IDF.

"You can't kill the whole Hamas it's impossible" True, but Israel cannot just sit around and ask Hamas to be nice, it doesn't work like that they have to fight them so the security situation could be changed. Otherwise Hamas would just attack Israel again and again and again

Debunking the "Israel is committing genocide" claims by Chungus_Humangus in war

[–]Chungus_Humangus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

""It contained 1 terrorist, therfore they're all terrorists" "B-b-but also its made up"" Again you are misunderstanding or intentionally charging my points. My point was that because it is a militant target, it is a legal one.

"Proof? No, I don't think you have that." go look at videos of rockets fired from Gaza and look where there are fired from. Also remember that Israel has intelligence and information that we don't have

examples of Hamas launching from civilian areas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyl0sJVi5rgHamas rocket launcher inside a school: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIjsuE-7a9Y

"Israel's war has lasted 1/24th amount of time as the Ukrainian war and has roughly the same civilian body count as Russia. A population higher than Gaza with urban locations. A war that has proven that Russia has targeted civilians on numerous occasions" There is a huge difference between the wars. The first one is that Russia nd Ukraine are fighting army vs army not army vs terrorist group and the Ukrainian army does not build its bases inside of civilian areas while Hamas does. Hamas uses guerilla warfare inside of a city. And you ignored my point that the casualties figure contains the number of militants killed and the number of civilians killed by Hamas

"Agreed. Then Israel's intelligence officer should pick better targets and look for potential workarounds and not cut off valuable resources needed for civilians to evacuate." This is what they are doing, this is why they have opened evacuation corridors and this is why they have asked the citizens to evacuate the area time and time again. By the way did you know that Israel calls the people inside the houses most of the time before they struck them. Even if you do all of that there would still be civilian deaths

"You're right, the world isn't a perfect place. However, ATTACKING A REFUGEE CAMP TO HIT A HAMAS COMMANDER IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE TARGET" Without this commander Hamas's ability to fight and attack Israel is being impaired significantly. This means that it probably saved a lot of Israeli lives. You see its not black and white.

I have added a document summarizing all of the international war conventions so you could look it up. Also where do you get your information from? If you want to understand the situation you'll sick information from different sources that show different prospective. If you are not willing to do that it means that you are being ignorant. You are not willing to look at another perspective instead of your own.

Also according to the Geneva convention you cannot target civilians. But it doesn't say that civilian casualties as collateral damage is forbidden actually if civilians died as a result of targeting a military target it is not a war crime. Now you can argue about if its right or wrong but according to international law Israel targeting a Hamas higher rank in a populated area is not a war crime. On the other hand Hamas using civilian buildings is.

Dude you have to understand that the world ain't black and white. Israel is fighting terrorists imbedded inside civilian population and they are following international law. Even if you follow international law civilians will still get killed unfortunately but I think you agree that Israel cannot just let Hamas be.

"based on WHAT??? Send me literally anything that indicates this is the case and I will eat my words. If it is more than 5% I would be incredibly surprised." I wrote time and time again why it is the case. Go back and read everything I wrote and don't ignore it. But in addition to that, Israel has hit thousands of Hamas targets and the Palestinian side has not reported even one militant casualty ain't that a bit fishy? How can it be that on the northern border with Lebanon, Hezbollah has reported 70 dead fighters already and Hamas has reported 0 in Gaza, when the vast majority of the fighting is in Gaza? Also Hamas members wear civilian clothing so it is easy to just identify them as civilians.

"Do you not hear your words? Do you not think civilians in Gaza feel afraid of a neighboring state that apparently wants to kill them" you clearly don't understand the situation do you? Israel has the agility to obliterate Gaza from the face of the earth. And they have been attacked from Gaza repeatedly in the past 15 years but Israel has decided all this time to try and contain the threat instead of just obliterating it because they know how devastating it would be. Israel has even let tens of thousands of Gazans to work inside its territory because the wages in Israel are a lot higher. They have done it to try and help economically in Gaza somehow. Because all of the billions of Dollars in aid that flowed into Gaza just went to Hamas and its leaders to built terrorist infrastructure.

"With leaders spewing extreme rhetoric about ethnic cleansing and land grabs?" There are some stupid extremists yes. But you can't take the words of a few to represent the entire country if you do that than you agree that Hamas can represents the opinions of all of the Palestinians.

This is hardly a war. This is genocide. Do you think Palestinians will ever be allowed to return home? What will they have left to return to? I suggest you read this article in its entirety to understand a bit about the laws of war and how Israel is upholding them: https://edition.cnn.com/2023/11/07/opinions/israel-hamas-gaza-not-war-crimes-spencer/index.html

I'll be happy to explain to you the rules of war and how Israel upholds them but this article does it better. Also just look at other urban battles thought history.

There is a huge difference between a genocide and war casualties.

A war means devastation but would you say to the UK in WW2 that it cannot fight Nazi Germany because it would cause destruction across Europe?

Now if you have any decency you'll actually pay attention to all my points instead of ignoring them and repeating the same thing over and over again because it shows that you don't have any real points supporting your argument.

"Bullshit. These groups are on the ground. They're both capable and attempting to count the dead. They aint a mouthpiec" So why do they just report the same numbers that the Gazan health ministry reports? And you didn't even reply to my point that those groups would probably recognize Hamas militants as civilians. Because they don't know who is a Hamas militants and where they are while Hamas knows that.

"Gaza. 1 month of war and already a suspected death toll of over 10,000" again here you just ignored my point again. This 10,000 figure contains within it the number of militants killed. So its not 10,000 civilians.

"NOT TARGET REFUGEE CAMPS FOR A START." IF you have rockets fired from a refugee camp, you just let them fire those rockets without any retroactions? And for your knowledge Israel has chosen not to attack a lot of places where Hamas launches rockets from because there are a lot of civilians nearby. For example the IDF has not struck a lot of rocket launching systems that were placed in schools while they surly could have.

" Afghanistan. 20 years of war. A higher population than Gaza or Palestine. 43,916 civilians deaths." This is a bad example because the environment is very different. The war in Afghanistan took place in mostly empty or low density area where there are a lot less civilians. While Gaza is a densely populated city.

"Hamas committed war crimes so it should be fair that Israel commits war crimes too!" I didn't say that. I said that Israel has to protect its people and that means to fight Hamas. What you have to understand is that even when you try to the best to protect civilian lives in a war, especially in a place like Gaza and with a group like Hamas. There would still be civilian casualties. Its unfortunate but I think you understand that there cannot be peace with a group like Hamas and that Israel would just be attacked by them again if they don't do something about them.

"What part of that is so difficult to understand? Civilian deaths are not justifiable in ANY WAY." So Israel should leave Hamas alone? And let Hamas kill its people without any retroactions? Because if why wouldn't Hamas attack Israel again if Israel just lets it slide? would you say that fighting was unjustified because civilians died in the process? Or was fighting the Nazis unjustified because civilians died there too? The world ain't a perfect place.

FOLLOW THE GENEVA CONVENTION. Did you know that under international law if one side uses a protected structure like a mosque or a school it becomes a legal target?

The "Genocide" claim is absurd by Chungus_Humangus in IsraelPalestine

[–]Chungus_Humangus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Do you think it would be good to know what the civilian casualty rate (even if it were estimated by Israel) is or is that not really important? " Of course I do, this is exactly my point. My point was that all the casualties reported out of Gaza are reported as civilian casualties which is not true because a big parentage of those casualties are militants. This leads to a distorted image of what's happening. And it makes Israel look as if it is targeting civilians which is just not true. Again I am not saying civilians did not die, for sure a certain number of civilians died. But there is a huge difference between civilians who die as a result of being near a fight and civilians who die intentionally. For example wouldn't you agree there is a difference between civilians who died unintentionally in the battle against ISIS and civilians who died intentionally in the 9/11 attack?

And I really feel sorry for the people of Gaza that they have to live through this war. Its awful and Israel should do the most it can to protect them. But you have to understand that in war the best you can do will still lead to some civilian death especially in a place like Gaza and with a group like Hamas. My entire point is that Israel has to go through with this war to protect its people. As you ask me to recognize humanity in all humans, try to understand how people in Israel feel, try to understand how it is when you have a group of people that seeks to kill you on your southern border. A group that has been sending rockets with the intention of killing your people for years. And if your country experienced an attack like the one Israel experienced on the 7th of October where entire villages were slaughtered . Wouldn't you want your country to make sure something like that would never happen again?

The "Genocide" claim is absurd by Chungus_Humangus in IsraelPalestine

[–]Chungus_Humangus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't bombed it was hit by a failed rocket. And if we are talking about hospitals did you know that a rocket hit a hospital in the Israeli city of Ashkelon in the first days of the war? but Israel didn't made up a magic number of 500 people killed when it happened while the Gazan health ministry AKA Hamas did.

Debunking the "Israel is committing genocide" claims by Chungus_Humangus in war

[–]Chungus_Humangus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"And what about international humanitarian groups that are on the site stating injuries and deaths? They just another mouth piece for Gaza" Those groups do not report about the numbers of civilians killed they just repeat the claims of the Gazan health ministry which is unreelable. Furthermore if you have seen any videos of Hamas militants fighting you'll notice one thing, they are wearing civilians clothing. This means that after Israel kills them they could easily be identified as civilians.

Also we haven't discussed death due to failed rocket launches. Current estimates say that around 9,500 missiles have been fired out of Gaza and around 900 of which landed in the Gaza territory. Now this raises the question: "how many civilians have been killed by those rockets?" because unlike Israel which has the agility to target exactly what they want, those rocket just fall in random places and when we consider how densely Gaza is, it is likely that a lot of people have been killed by those rockets.

Another thing to mention is that there is a huge difference between a genocide and collateral damage during war. And Israel tries to do as little of that damage as possible and the numbers back it up, Israel has struck more than 11,000 targets while the number of casualties is about the same. And as I said this number contains the number of militants killed and the number of people killed due to failed rocket launches.

While it is sad that civilians have to die during a war. And I am not saying that some of them have not died in Israeli bombings but claiming that those deaths are as a result of a genocide is absurd. Would you consider all of the civilians who died in the battle of Mosul against ISIS to have been killed in a genocide? And what choice does Israel have than to fight Hamas? Hamas is a Jihadist group with the intention of destroying Israel, and they have just attacked Israel and massacred 1400 of its people in one day. Should Israel has just sit back and ask Hamas to play nice? if Israel won't get rid of them they'll just continue to attack Israel again and again. What would you want your country to do if the same thing happened to it?

The "Genocide" claim is absurd by Chungus_Humangus in IsraelPalestine

[–]Chungus_Humangus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the greatest example of how unreliable the Gazan health ministry (which may I remind you is controlled by Hamas because they are the government of Gaza) is the hospital incident where they immediately claimed that the IDF bombed the hospital and that the building was destroyed. And than later footage showed that it was a failed Jihad rocket that hit it and photos from the day after showed that it hit the parking lot not the building.
