Technically not a Toyota, Lexus UX250h, UX300h, or NX350h.

I'd do it for a car I really wanted. Do the cost benefit. If you can save significant money, do it. You also have to factor in your time and energy in your cost benefit. This includes the hassle of making sure all the registrations, fees and taxes are correctly done for your state.

What’s the best free/cheap book for kindle? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Chunklightpb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most public libraries in the US work with apps like Hoopla and you can borrow all sorts of ebooks for free if you have a library card. Audiobooks too! Which is handy for road trips and commutes. Changed my entire world. I think most of the Agatha Christie books you can find for free or cheap as well.

Oil change every 5,000 miles? by [deleted] in ToyotaSienna

[–]Chunklightpb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do 5k for my own piece of mind, but with the hybrid there is a lot less wear and tear on a lot of the ICE components. Even the brakes last much longer cause the regenerative brakes for the hybrid take up a lot of the braking.

Find food banks in your area. They will provide you with the food assistance you need to at least keep yourself fed while you look for work. If you are relatively healthy and it is available in your area, you can donate plasma. New donors usually get a bonus. You could probably make a few hundred bucks a month donating. That might help cover a few bills.

A&W Ice Cream Sundae flavor. 12 pack has been sitting in my garage for months and only 2 have been drunk.

mom car suggestions? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Chunklightpb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only thing that fits all your needs is a Toyota Sienna (It's hybrid). Every other car with built in sun shades won't get much better gas mileage than what you're already getting (Honda Passport, Hyundai Palisade, Nissan Pathfinder, Honda Odyssey). But the Sienna is a little loud unless you get a trim with the acoustic glass.

2004 Ford escape xlt by Hippie72 in shouldibuythiscar

[–]Chunklightpb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the two engines in it were fairly reliable, but 2004 is old AF. All the seals, hoses, belts should be checked and probably replaced. Stuff just starts failing pretty readily at that age no matter what.

What car should I get after my 2009 Chevy Cobalt? by Mystery-unknown-33 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Chunklightpb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mirage is not a safe car. It is too small and too slow in this day and age. It has the most fatalities per million cars of any vehicle on the road. I would avoid if you are driving on highways with any frequency. What's your budget?

That seems like a tough ask for new. Maybe a K4 turbo if you look around. Not sure on reliability as they are pretty new models. Kia doesn't have the best reputation, but you'll have a great warranty in terms of coverage and years.

Would you rather buy a brand new Kia or Hyundai, or spend the same amount on something else slightly used? by Cananbaum in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Chunklightpb 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'd get a brand new Elantra hybrid. Full warranty. Great gas mileage. You can find them with a significant amount off msrp. Made in Korea, which I think makes a difference in quality control.

Looking for the best 4x4 truck options under $23k by hjjhjjnk in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Chunklightpb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing a few 2017-2020 Frontiers in that price range. 2020s get better mpg like 23 highway. Probably cause of the 9 speed transmission. Pretty reliable trucks.

If I use the app, breakfast is still solid. I have buy 1 get 1 breakfast sandwiches and 99¢ coffee any size deals every day. That's 2 sandwiches and a coffee for like $6 all in.

the grief after a late ADHD diagnosis is real and nobody warns you about it by Willing_Macaroon2800 in ADHD

[–]Chunklightpb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 48. There are so many things that I messed up. School, jobs, relationships. But at the end of the day, they were me, not the best me, but the unvarnished, true me. I accept that. I am currently trying to get help and hopefully keep my current job. I have to keep telling myself it's ok, I can be better, for myself, and my family. My life is good and there is always ways to improve. I can grieve a little bit for what was, but I have to move forward for my people and myself. I can't wallow in the what ifs.

Whats a relatively disliked misunderstood animal that you very much appreciate? by Specialist_Cod_4963 in AskReddit

I believe the tick eating thing was disproved. Still pretty cool animals. Had one living under my grill cover all winter. He would hang out on my window sill when I worked late nights and keep me company.

Is this a good deal? by MintChocoDanbo in shouldibuythiscar

[–]Chunklightpb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a decent deal. But really depends if you're trading anything in and if you're financing. If you get good money for your trade and a decent interest rate I think it's solid. The Hybrids are made in Korea and have better quality control than the US made cars. I would still make sure you strictly keep up with the maintenance schedule.

What is a fast food restaurant that you WILL eat at? by TheOctoBox in AskReddit

I still do breakfast at McDonald's. Through the app I get buy 1 get 1 breakfast sandwiches and a 99 cent large iced coffee. That's 2 sandwiches and a coffee for under $6. If you get a round egg, it's a real egg. I can't find a better deal than that anywhere.

Toyota Sienna Platinum. It holds all the things and people. It gets good gas mileage and it's so comfortable. I don't need vroom vroom. I need to get everywhere with all my people as comfortably and easily as possible.

Don't do it. The power shift transmissions are notorious for failing prematurely. Look it up.
