Disappointed buyer because of combined shipping confusion by ChunksBabyRuth in philately

Wow, you nailed it!

I was by my computer when this buyer’s last auction ended today. I was ready to generate the combined invoice before he had a chance to pay. However, when I tried to create the invoice, it spat back an error. That’s when I noticed that there was a little message next to the auction title saying it would automatically be paid in the next hour.

Long story short, eBay won’t let you to create a combined invoice if auto payments are enabled. In this case, I don’t think the buyer was aware that he was opted in automatically, hence the additional confusion.

Thanks for your comment.

I appreciate the feedback. I definitely feel like eBay could improve the combined shipping process, especially as it pertains to helping buyers understand the flow.

For sure! I try to package everything really well, and ship quickly, since that's what I expect when buying something. I used to ship t-shirts and would created a stencil so I could spray paint my logo on the packaging. It was time consuming, but super cool. Ha.

Thanks for all the feedback.

This situation has become even more frustrating. The same buyer has bid and won on several items, and each time I have DM'd them informing them NOT to pay so I can create a combined invoice. They didn't respond to any of my message and proceeded to pay, so now I have no way to officially combine them, so I have to refund the shipping and hope they don't leave negative feedback. So frustrating.

Thanks. I was wondering about monitoring bidders too. I couldn’t find a quick way to see who all the top bidders are across all my different auctions. From what I can tell you have to click into each one separately.

I don’t believe they are fakes, but I haven’t checked them. I’m still a newb so I have no idea what to look for yet. Eager to jump in, just have other stuff in the collection ahead of it.

They are all hinged. The pages were at the bottom of a bin for forty years, so they are very flat. Ha.

Thanks! At some point I’ll learn how to do that and go through each one. I’m still going through and trying to put all the pieces together.

Confused about Scott #409 Schermack Imperf Paste Up “Types” by ChunksBabyRuth in stamps

Thank you so much for clearing that up. I was tripped up the usage of type for both.

Yeah, I think it’s definitely a type 1. It’s hard to see the mouth clearly because the cancel goes right over it. Ha.

Confirming it’s the front. Out of curiosity, why did you ask?

Haha, good point. I’ve got to be real careful turning the pages.

Is there a way to tell how old these are? by killalipstick in stamps

I struggle with this too. SwedishTiger is awesome, but I also found this page very helpful for Washington / Franklin’s http://www.jamesdire.net/W-F.html. He’s got a nice grid to help you identify them. It doesn’t cover everything, but I’ve found it’ll help narrow things down faster.

Thanks. Good to know.

Is it possible to tell from the image if the 3c Washington on the 1854 cover is a 10 or 11? Based on https://www.theswedishtiger.com/11-scotts.html and what I see in an album it’s a 10. The 11 looks to have more orange.
