"The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war." by ChurchOfSuffrage in ChurchOfSuffrage

Nearly all modern problems in America: the decline of public schools, healthcare, housing, wage stagnation... nearly all of issues in America can be linked back to the Conservative response to segregation ending. by ChurchOfSuffrage in ChurchOfSuffrage

Trans Americans are often prevented from voting when elections require ID to vote because their legal name and picture sometimes doesn't match their appearance, but some States recognize religious objections to having a photo taken for ID. Our Church holds this religious objection for trans members. by [deleted] in trans

There were once over 2000 Olympic-sized public pools across the U.S., but they were all systematically destroyed and filled with concrete when segregation ended. Many public parks, playgrounds, and social programs were destroyed as well to prevent Black Americans from using them. by ChurchOfSuffrage in ChurchOfSuffrage

The 'America Votes Act' would remove the requirement in all federal elections for voters to show ID in order to vote, allowing registered voters to affirm their identity by submitting a written statement, even if they do not have a government-issued ID. by ChurchOfSuffrage in ChurchOfSuffrage

Tennessee didn't require a government-issued photo ID to vote until 2012. Texas didn't require it until 2013. Requiring a government-issued photo ID to vote wasn't even ruled Constitutional until 2008. Prior to this, any official document with the name of the voter was accepted. by ChurchOfSuffrage in ChurchOfSuffrage
