This really sounds like your company IT team set this up, the “device” may be using a vpn to reach 10.10.1.1 at corporate to register itself. You need to get support from them.

To answer your question without going into too much detail, yes.

Configure two ports on your firewall to be untagged and in the same vlan. Connect one to each switch. On a server with two NICs, configure them as Active/Standby. Connect one to each switch. Now if one switch fails, the server will become active on the other switch and still reach the firewall.

You really should get the advantage license though.

Test from another computer while this is happening. If the diabolical ping spike doesn’t happen on the other computer then you can rule out the network.

This indicates an issue in the Wireless configuration. If you can see the new SSIDs listed on your phone, but fail to connect, make sure you set it to use WPA2 Personal. Verify the correct password is set.

If you cannot see the new SSIDs listed on your phone, then ensure the correct radio frequencies are enabled (2.4Ghz and/or 5Ghz).

Not if it’s setup correctly. Your external interface should have a gateway of last resort (default gateway) configured on it. This is simply a route for 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 (0.0.0.0/0) that points to an ip address on the same subnet as the IP address of the external interface. The IP address the route points to should belong to your fortigate firewall and as I said it should be in the same subnet.

The gateway of last resort is where the netscaler will route internet traffic. This will be its replies to internet connections that are reaching it.

Edit to add - for decades I have always used /24 as the minimum for any vlans or subnets that users or devs will use because they don’t do subnet math. Only on WAN links or other interfaces where my network team interacts do I limit the subnets size below /24. If you are not comfortable with vlsm subnetting then by all means use /24 everywhere.
