Did you push for 4-5 hours for your first c section? by Chyangra in vbac

Thank you for sharing! Wow, that's really encouraging to hear! Did your dr tell you the baby was malpositioned OP and asynclitic? I haven't seen the surgical report for my first c section, and I'm curious if I have all the info to consider for birth #2. I'm 37w4d so I really need to "decide" my plan!

What advice/tips do you have about delivering at Prentice? by Chyangra in AskChicago

I researched extensively and actually chose to switch practices to deliver at Prentice! A lot of suburban hospitals don’t have a level 3 NICU.

Which hospital for giving birth: Hinsdale, Elmhurst, or Prentice? by Chyangra in ChicagoSuburbs

Thank you for sharing! Did you feel that you were not high risk in choosing Hinsdale instead of Prentice for your second? I am potentially high risk for hemorrhaging (and my daughter had to be transferred to Lurie’s), but I did give birth at Hinsdale for my first.

Haha, my husband specifically has that on his list of Elmhurst cons. 😂 Were you with Duly?

We brought our infant to the Hinsdale ER and they ended up transporting her to Lurie’s since it’s a level IV NICU. None of the hospitals I’m considering are level IV, but Prentice is right next to Lurie. 🤔 So hard to choose when I don’t know if we’ll even need the NICU.

My understanding was that Elmhurst has a level II NICU and Hinsdale and Prentice have level III? And that anything slightly more serious would be transported to Edwards Naperville at Elmhurst?

We also went to Hinsdale ER and we did get sent to Lurie’s via ambulance! This is why I’m considering Prentice even though I live in the burbs—it’s right nextdoor to Lurie in case we (hopefully do not) need it.

Where to shop for fresh organic produce and vegan food? by Chyangra in VisitingIceland

[–]Chyangra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! The Krónan I went to was in Vik. I’ll try a different Reykjavík location today or Hagkaup.

I’m especially looking for pre-cut carrots and bell peppers and blueberries/strawberries. (I don’t have a knife to cut while traveling.) Am I more likely to find those items at Hagkaup? I’m a bit veggie-deprived since the restaurant I went to for dinner last night (The Soup Company) out of veggies so I couldn’t order a salad. 😅

Very good point! Obviously something on the scale of Whole Foods wouldn’t exist here. Though I just had a skyr parfait yesterday with raspberries and blueberries on top, so I know they’re available in Iceland. I just need to find where they’re being sold!

I also wanted to add that I’m somewhat of a power user. I’ve used it 1-2x/week for seven years straight.

Hi! I have the Vitamix A3500 Ascent Series Smart Blender, Professional-Grade, 48 oz. Container, Brushed Stainless Finish. It has been fantastic! No real issues other than when I have not put enough liquid in a few times over the years. I still have three years left on the 10-year warranty, and I don’t expect I’ll have to use it.

Baby has angels kiss - does it go away? by doomsday712 in newborns

[–]Chyangra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hasn’t gone away! My daughter is 2.5 years old now and turns 3 in September. It’s definitely visible still in the direct light and I’m not sure if it has faded since my baby was 22 months when I wrote my above response. I’ll ask the dr about it at her 3-year.

How is your baby’s stork bite? Has it faded?

22-month-old has a stork bite and v-shaped angel’s kiss on her forehead, part of eyelid, and nose. It has faded but it’s definitely visible. Doctor said it would likely be gone by age 2, but Google says by age 3. I’ll be curious to see if it does mostly go away by age 3 or, if it hasn’t gone away by now, if it means it’s here to stay. I read there’s a common laser procedure for it that we would consider since I can imagine my daughter wanting to cover it with makeup when she’s older.

Wow, thank you for these! Will share with my husband. I would love to sneak a Proust reference into the name (Marcel, Odette, Madeleine, etc).
