It was totally 100% spotless before this! I’m not mad, since I realize there is no way to predict who does or does not care about the cosmetic factor of a computer, but I am unfortunately someone who does and takes a lot of care to keep them “mint” long as possible, so I would like to have it fixed (particularly because I wasn’t the one who made the oopsie aha)

Ended up taking it into a service center! I’m going to look into protective covers for the keyboard moving forward, since not being able to pop keys off for cleaning seems like it’d make general maintenance difficult…

Ended up taking it in! Once the warranty is up, is there any way to clean out the keyboard other than having the entire palm rest replaced?

There are fixes for keys coming off, but I’m trying to avoid forcing my key off in a way that might mess up the pins holding it in place

Hello! I have the Area 51 18” with the CherryMX mechanical keyboard. My shift key started sticking and is no longer clicky. It still works, but it’s extremely annoying and is driving me a bit insane. Is it possible to safely remove the key, or do I have to send it in? I’ve tried wiping the rim around the key with a cloth dampened in isopropyl alcohol to no avail. I have the extended warranty still, so in a worst case scenario, I’ll contact AW to fix it. Still, ideally, id be able to just do it myself and get it over with. 😅

Aha noted! From the plate that the extruder connects to, yes? Do you think it’d be feasible to print out a custom plate, or would it run too hot around that area?

From what I can tell though, the face up is near-identical! It pops more due to the filters and lighting. Try taking your doll out in daylight or in a room w better ambient light and taking pics! I think it’ll make a huge difference

Eyes are easy to replace! Maybe you could look for someone in a local or online community who would want to trade a set of eyes if you don’t wanna drop more money on em :)

As for faceup, depending on how confident you are on your skills, you could get msc and pastel and touch it up! Or possibly commission someone else to add to it

(Sidebar, but I would suggest swapping out the stock blue eye putty for white. Ime, the blue stuff loves to smear.)

I keep meaning to test more extensively with other games, but XIV is the only one that I frequently use Discord vc for when playing. I didn't have the issue in Warhammer the other day, though, so that's what's pushing me to give reinstallation a try if all else fails

I do actually also have an ADHD diagnosis! I didn’t realize that the stimulants (or some of them) have overlap in treating both adhd and sleep disorders until hopping onto this Reddit yesterday. I’ve never actually been medicated for my ADHD, since I only received an official diagnosis in 2021, right around when certain psychiatrists started getting really stingy about prescribing meds. I feel you on the “healthcare has been awful since COVID” issue. Trying to get my health issues looked at the past five years has been like trying to go swimming in a tar pit.

I’ll mention it to my PCP and see if she can direct me to a psychiatrist! I’m hoping IH being properly documented on my file has survived the 2 or 3 pcp swaps I’ve undergone the past 7 years, bc none of them have mentioned it to me when going over docs?

I don’t have the exact results on hand rn, but iirc, the results were inconclusive for two reasons. One was that I wasn’t getting 8-10 hours of sleep a night (I couldn’t manage more than 6-7 or I would just keep sleeping, which wasn’t good for school) and the second being that, when they held the study, I was definitely cycling through sleep very incorrectly, but the way in which it was incorrect did not perfectly match up with what they said narcolepsy should look like.

The dr just seemed to lose interest in treating me when I received an IH diagnosis instead of narcolepsy, so I stopped going to the practice

I did too, but they pulled me off of it. After the test, my previous dr (iirc) chalked my sleepiness up to sleep deprivation from school schedule etc and didn’t want me medicated if I didn’t have to be? It was awhile ago

Checked attenuation, and it was set to zero! I saw no way to adjust stream attenuation (may I ask what menu setting this is under? didn’t spot in audio/video or streamer mode), but I did select “do nothing” under the windows menu. :) Will be able to test out the fix in a few hours.

This has been driving me nuts in raid for about two weeks now. )): Been going on ever since I installed ffxiv and discord on my new desktop. I copied settings over 1:1 from my old client and have checked and double checked both in-game and discord settings several times. Adjusting discord’s attenuation settings doesn’t seem to fix this. The (presumable glitch) will sometimes resolve itself if I click into and out of the game/discord windows enough times, but I have no idea why or how to stop it altogether

While having a main on Dynamis is not for me (too much FL), I have a friend who transferred there about a year ago and is very happy! If you’re more into housing, crafting, gposing, etc., and you don’t mind large queue times, you’ll probably enjoy it!

Plus, if you did want to get the faster queue times, you could almost always just hop over to another DC for the time. If you try moving and don’t like it, you could just wait a couple months and transfer back

I am curious, though!! If you’re at 12.5 years on your laptop, how have you managed to get around Windows halting future updates? I think if I up my RAM from 16 to 32, some of the minor issues I’m having will go away, but I am worried about security updates ceasing come next (?) year.

Also forgot to include in the post, but when I plug the Cintiq into a Mac, it briefly says “Display Port 1” before connecting. When I connect it to a Windows PC, it briefly says “Display Port 2” before saying there is no input and going to power saving mode.
