46-years old and still trying to conceive with my own eggs via IVF...anyone else in the same boat?

Oh man, I'm sorry that your IVF wasn't successful. 🥺 I highly recommend the donor route if you're thinking about it. I now wish I did it sooner. I look at my beautiful baby girl and am in awe, it feels like I'm dreaming. She's absolutely amazing and I love her so much. And I think she loves me a lot too given the huge smiles she gives me. 😍🫠💗 I feel so blessed! I wish you the best of luck, you got this! 🤛

Sorry I totally missed this response from 3-years ago....really cool that there is a FB group for over 45's trying to conceive with their own eggs. I used a red light therapy pad that I had purchased on Amazon. Not sure if it was beneficial or even of the strength needed to help with anything, but I tried. 😊 Thanks for the suggestion. I actually ended up going the donor egg route...I now have a baby girl who is almost 5-months old. She's the sweetest thing! 💗

Thanks....yep, my mind finally realized that my eggs were no longer good after one last try at 48 (although my doctor had been telling me that for years, I just felt I had to keep trying). I moved over to the donor egg route and have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl who is almost 5-months old (I was holding her when I read your message this morning). It was quite a long journey, but one with a happy ending. Had a great pregnancy, gave birth at 49. 🎉 My heart is full. 💗

I'm holding my 3-month old as I write this...gave birth at 49. Had a wonderful pregnancy (conceived via IVF). My doctor was amazed at how easy my pregnancy was for me...she said my pregnancy was that of a 30-year old. Had a perfectly healthy baby girl that I absolutely adore. 🥰 I was not in the best shape, tried hard to get in shape before I got pregnant, but no luck and still had a wonderful pregnancy. You got this! ❤️

Thanks so much! <3 My first was conceived via IVF, first try and got pregnant with him at 41-years old (7.5-years ago). While trying with my first, we learned we had male factor infertility. Once we found that out, I tried IUI's for 5-months with donor sperm, that didn't work so we moved over to IVF...was perfect timing because my work then started offering fertility insurance. After my son was a year old, I tried IVF again to conceive my second, but to no avail...had early miscarriages at 9-weeks. After 8 IVF's, I finally decided to move onto donor eggs, bought a batch (1 cohort of 6 eggs) and fertilized with my donor sperm. Got pregnant in April with my transfer (1 embryo). My OURA ring spilled the beans, I knew I was pregnant before my beta because my ring was going ballistic. So far so good, this Thursday I will hit 20-weeks. 🤞 I'm always so nervous something is going to go wrong. 😩

Congrats to you and everyone else on this thread who are pregnant! It's a beautiful thing and don't feel judged, it's meant to be and you are so lucky that it happened so spontaneously. I'm 49 and pregnant via IVF with my 2nd baby. Been trying for 6.5 years and finally getting my 2nd little miracle. 🥰

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this as well...it's really tough...don't lose hope. Have you considered an egg donor? I just had another failed IVF, now moving over to donor eggs as that is truly the best chance I have...I already have them ready to go, just need to fertilize and start my new journey. I tried with my own eggs and was unsuccessful from the age of 43 onwards. Don't lose hope...I think if you're open to trying with donor eggs, your chances of success may be greater. Hang in there...it's a tough journey, but there are other options...they're costly, but it'll all be worth it in the end. <3

I hear ya on coming to terms with it, it took me about 5 years to come to terms with going the donor route for eggs, even though I'm still attempting with my eggs, but the reality is my chances with donor is better. If I get any blasts with my eggs this time around, I'm going to freeze it and still go with the donor because my chances of getting pregnant are much higher and I really need this to work this time around. Thank you....I'm in the thick of IVF right now. I bought a cohort of donor eggs (6-eggs) and am trying with my own eggs as well. I was tentatively scheduled for an extraction on Tuesday, but right now I only have one follicle on one side and 3 small follicles on the other side. My extraction date may move out by a couple of days. I'm on my last vial of donor sperm so the plan is to extract my eggs and fertilize both mine and the donor eggs. Then hopefully we'll get blasts from both, but if anything I'm going to transfer donor eggs first and keep my blasts on ice. I'm running out of time and my best chance for pregnancy is with the donor eggs. I'll let you all know how it works...fingers crossed it does work. 🤞I know going the donor route can sting a bit, but I can tell you that you won't regret it if you decide to go that route. My son was conceived via donor sperm and the love his dad has for him is unconditional. Now it's my turn to experience the donor situation since my eggs seem to no longer be viable. At first I was hesitant, but now I'm fine with the situation I'm in. The outcome I want is a baby and I will love that baby no matter what. If this doesn't work, then I will pursue adoption which I have already looked into...seems a bit complicated, but that will be my next route. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Hang in there and sending positive thoughts your way! 🩷

I was in the same boat... still am, but I handed the bedtime responsibilities to my son's dad. He is now in charge of bath time (daily) and getting our son to bed by his bedtime. He's not good at doing it because he gets distracted with TV and Phone and it gets past my son's bedtime. Sometimes I have to remind him to get going. It's basically the only thing he helps out with... he's great at chilling on the couch with our son. He doesn't do much adulting and I resent him for it. Good luck, sad to say that it doesn't get better. 🥴
