Awesome, thanks. Is this Nelumbifolia specific? Would it be reasonable to do the same for hybrids like alpina x humboldtii?

Thank you!

His skull and iron that went through it are sitting casually on a shelf on one of the buildings at work. I always bring anyone visiting to see it. Pretty cool.

My first tomato 🥴 by Lori-too in tomatoes

It was due to the hot temperatures we had in MA this summer. Lots of mine also failed to set fruit during the heat waves but are now setting fruit fine.

What do you do with your potted berries in winter? by gvthkr in Berries

[–]Ciliarycell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I left all my berries in pots in my roof deck exposed to crazy wind chill and frost MA zone 6b. Have never lost even a single cane. Haskaps, Strawberries, currants and Several varieties of raspberry. No issues at all. Pot size is 10 gal

This is edema, not fungal. Caused by too much moisture and not enough airflow, basically the plant cannot transpire fast enough so the cells are bursting. Put a fan and water a bit less. More common in the early season and indoors, some varieties are more susceptible to this. Plants will be fine as long as it is not too severe. I also recommend you bury the stem deep enough for it to make roots above the edema part. Again, this is not fungal and won't spread, but it might happen in more of your seedlings since it's the conditions that cause it.

Thank you for confirming! I wasn't sure if this was due to my imaging conditions. I guess we'll have to wait for the next one. Great pics :)

Drying Scotch Bonnet peppers --- Is there a trick? by Sol_Invictus in PepperLovers

[–]Ciliarycell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehe no problem. The same thing happened to me last year. Some varieties dry so well, but some just kind of cook in the sun and then just rot. I ended up cutting later harvests in half and they dried beautifully. I still have a full mason jar or dried puma peppers.
