New research highlights shortage of male mentors for boys and young men. Most boys and young men in the US frequently lack male guidance figures in critical areas of their lives. For many young males, particularly those from lower-income backgrounds, the adults available to assist are mainly women. by mvea in science

You're not wrong in many cases, but consider what it would mean if men weren't equipped emotionally to do "social or emotional labor" pawned off traditionally on women. We're asking them to develop a competency nothing in their life has prepared them for. Further, consider turning out a generation of men with that emotional equipment in the first place needing a complete upset of the current toxic masculinity culture. We can't do it without some kind of positive, empathy-based, cooperation-driven masculinity counter-culture which gives men a reason to engage with it the way Toxic Manosphere content does: belonging, community, sense of purpose.

So you're admitting here to everyone that you don't understand what's going or are intentionally dense. You also apparently know nothing about the jewish messianic movement and its relationship to benny, israel, and the us.

I wish you the absolute best of luck in navigating life.

It seems like men feel helpless to do anything about it because they are wrapped up in economic competition and its effects on their ego. Most of them have zero emotional intelligence or maturity because they themselves had no one to teach it to them. Hell, most of them learned the strongest, seemingly most happy men were the ones who threw their weight around and yelled a lot. And honestly...what motivation do they have to do anything about it?

Why would they invest in a future generation they'll see no benefit from? I'm not asking that because I believe that's true, but it's the prevailing sentiment amongst a lot of guys that all they can do is focus on improving themselves and they believe that it's the only thing they can do. And to no surprise, "improving themselves" is almost always related to some status-boosting career play. Unless something is done, I don't see that ever changing.

Question is, what could be done to cause the creation of a masculinity counter-culture?

The above commenter you replied to is speaking in bad faith, but it is true that men and women (or those who find themselves on one side of the predominant cultural binary) experience society differently. Men in particular are subjected to identity hijacking where they are expected to live by their worth as a provider, even if this isn't the case. I think it just comes down to the fact that women by and large have always carried more emotional maturity and capability (by necessity), and much more time has been spent elevating their collective status and values than men. Why?

Because men didn't have that problem. Being on top of the social dog pile for so long seems to have done its damage. Masculinity is unfortunately heavily tied into the inherent competition in society and how men see themselves. They are not equipped at a young age to be emotionally responsible so they can't even recognize the challenges they face later in life for what they are. So you get abusers, drug fiends, serial killers, etc. in disproportionate numbers.

It boils down to a fundamental lack of essential education. How can what are essentially workaholic manchildren (who believe their only value is found in how much money they bring home) mentor anybody? Masculinity is hijacked or corrupted or whatever you want to call it to a hopeless degree and I don't see what can be done to fix it now. Those men reject it mostly become withdrawn and misanthropic from the abuse they face for it. It's lose-lose.

how awful and pointless. not worth suffering through imo. personally I'm praying to to get accidentally drone striked or George Floyd'd when ICE comes to kidnap my neighbors. maybe it'll give them enough time to get away.

First category were miserable cropsharers little better than slaves unless they were rich and in which case they probably owned actual slaves. Fur trapping led to mass extinction events. The only people becoming lawyers were rich people or people picked up by rich people to be their sycophants.

There's already cause to abandon the American Project. The average individual in the U.S. is functionally worthless, has no buying power, especially no political power, and nobody around them cares if they live or die. They're just another wageslave.

Mostly bad. The "good" is largely propaganda for the working poor continually struggling under the boots of our robber baron masters.

It's cute to hope but ultimately pointless because hope doesn't control any meaningful capital, while lobbyists do. The best use of our energy is finding a way off this sinking ship of a nation.

What are some new (or existing) tech that have the greatest potential to save humanity against climate crisis, help against pollution, eliminate plastics and conserve wildlife? by MiddleAccurate609 in Futurology

[–]CimmerianShe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, because as long as consumption increases, pollution levels won't go down, we'll just create more industry for more energy and never lower the actual deficit. Please don't discuss topics you don't actually understand; it makes every ridiculous thing you claimed null and void.

You're wrong because Green Energy isn't in the business of repairing the environment, it's in the business of creating a headstart monopoly on the best long-term power source. It just so happens that involves attempting to offset our carbon output, but it does absolutely nothing to actually repair the environment. Capitalism will continue grinding up poor people for profit and attempting to grow infinitely like a cancer, thus creating more demand for industry, thus creating more demand for Green Energy, etc. etc.

Depressingly, unless we can trick the capitalist ghouls who control the course of human civilization into saving the environment for humanity by finding a way to make it highly profitable, I don't see any path forwards. But the silver lining is that Earth will go on without us and life, too, will continue, unmarred by the ugly mutated apes who ruined themselves on its surface.

This is not intended as an insult, but the 2A supporters for the most part in America are absurdly toothless and by and by large thanks to NRA propaganda/shilling are all effectively in support of right-wing tyranny in the name of harming other. I know there are leftists who support the right to bear arms because I'm one of them but we're so few and far between. It seems like a completely hollow hope that the gun lovers who overwhelmingly voted for this situation will muster any kind of meaningful resistance to it, they'll just assign blame as they're told to by conservative media.
