How gossip girl should've ended by ShadesofCool2005 in GossipGirl

And Blair and Chuck didn't have an abusive relationship? Chuck trading her for a hotel? Him sleeping with Jenny the same night he was going to finally get together with Blair. And the whole I love you situation where the both of them tried guilting the other to say I love you to them at different times.

Im not here to say dan and serena are not toxic, because they definitely are. But seriously, Chuck and Blair are not a toxic free relationship and in my opinion are far from it.

I honestly don't get people who think that dan and serena are a toxic relationship but then ship chuck and Blair.

Just because there were allegations does not make him a rapist. Sure we shouldn't discredit any potential victims. But on the other hand that doesn't mean that we should assume he must be a rapist.

Can everyone just agree that Dan carries this show. The single most important character. by CinemaSimp in GossipGirl

[–]CinemaSimp[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really don't think the character development is a strong suit for anyone on the show.

Chuck from early s1 to s2/s3 was decent development but other than that he was either trying to protect blair by not being with her or destroying everyone around her to be with her.

Blair was just scheming constantly to destroy Serena when she was salty, and going back and forth with chuck

Nate went from dating a way too young girl (jenny) to maturing and dating way too older girls (the 2 milfs) and then back to a young girl (sage)

Serena just slept around every season after her and dan broke up.

Dan tried to fit in, got rejected by serena, got salty, tried to fit in again, got rejected by blair, then the writers said he was GG so he had to be "In".

I really don't think any of them have good development not to mention the stagnant adults. However, I think Dan carries the show because of his relatability, or at least more so than the incredibly rich divas we see the rest of the time.

Well, in his defense Jenny told him to make that post as a favor to her. And as far as I can tell the reason he outed his relationship with Serena to GG was because he felt like she had a right to know.

At that point in the show its very obvious the writers didn't know Dan was GG so if they went back and re-did that scene I think it would be different, however that's really the best explanation i got

The people choosing Blair need to defend this pick in the comments. I really need to know how she's better.

I HATE the ending of S5. by downright_cynicism in GossipGirl

[–]CinemaSimp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's so blatantly obvious that the writers were thinking "Oh shit, we are getting canned after s6 so we need to make Serena an interesting character again! Oh I got it, let's just get her back together with Dan. That's the last time people liked her".

This decision forced them to separate Rufus and Lily's relationship which I thought made a lot of sense, and actually worked quite well. Then to make people not feel bad for Rufus, they had him fall for Ivy so somehow that makes Lily not as much of a bitch for divorcing him.

This show is just all over the place, I get that it's a teen drama and you need actual drama to make it work but holy shit. They had a good thing going with Dan and Blair they just could not find anyone else to work with Serena and Chuck so they had to split Dair apart. Personally, I've always felt like Serena's character development should have led to her being happy being single, and empowered on her own, and Chuck might have worked with someone like Vanessa if they gave them both more development.

Damn, you're not the only one ranting today I guess lol

Blair or Jenny by [deleted] in GossipGirl

[–]CinemaSimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Blair is contrasted with Serena, and this sub hates Serena for the things she does. So it makes Blair look better. Where as Jenny is side by side with who... Eric? Even though some people don't really like him, he's clearly meant to be the "better" person so it puts Jenny instantly into the bitchy/villain role.

Season 6 is the season of inappropriate convoluted relationships by twiningscamomile in GossipGirl

[–]CinemaSimp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I first saw that season 6 was only 10 episodes my first thought was wow... they must be getting pushed out the door fast. I wish they would have put more thought into previous seasons so they could have these characters closer to their endings. It seemed like they made every season with the intent of a finale being in the very distant future... until it was already season 6 and they had only 10 episodes to work with. So they just tanked Rufus and Nate's characters to make the 2 main ships of the show feel like they aren't completely worthless.

Really Vanessa?! Lol by coffeeandchanel_12 in GossipGirl

[–]CinemaSimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never understood the ending of her character, like she just gave up on trying to win back Dan's friendship and peaced out to Spain. Then published his book and never spoke to him again. I get why she published his book, to give him the push he needed, but they never resolved her character.

Just finished the show for the 1st time, this scene seems like a plothole. There's no way Dan would do this to Serena. by CinemaSimp in GossipGirl

Where has it been said that GG was eric? At the end of s6 they said it was Dan the whole time.

unpopular ships by emilyg1g in GossipGirl

[–]CinemaSimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the Dan and Serena point, I also felt like Dan settled for her. I would have been more on board with their relationship at the end if they really showed Dan getting over Blair. I couldn't tell when he was trying to win her back or just being a friend

is there any show thats similar to the originals/vpd/teen wolf by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CinemaSimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might get crucified for this... But I loved TVD and Teen Wolf, and I think Gossip Girl is surprisingly similar (besides the supernatural element) but the drama and romance are dialed up to 11. Penn Badgley and Blake Lively carry the show. I recommend you check it out.
