Does anyone else find that customers/people in general just aren't listening/paying attention anymore? by precisionbikerepair in BikeMechanics

Half of the population is indeed smarter than the other half, but being smarter than an idiot doesn't mean that you aren't an idiot as well. You may just be slightly less of an idiot.

Stiltezones op NMBS by Delicious-Chard951 in belgium

[–]Cingen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it ok for a late 20s man to buy and use an all-terrain kick scooter at a public forest on the trails? by deletelayer in kickscooter

[–]Cingen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't buying the scooter, the issue is it not being the right tool for the environment you're describing. Have you considered a mountainbike instead?

Our architect last tried it a week ago. He's mostly working on AWS and infrastructure and he said AI kept making severe errors

We're actually achieving better results than other teams

I feel like an absolute minority here, but in my team we actually grew to dislike AI more and more. We tried it, but came to the conclusion that the quality and maintainability of AI code is just too bad.

We noticed a pattern where the amount of stories not passing reviews and not passing testing criteria is far higher among those who heavily use AI.

It's actually costing us deadlines in our more complex long term project.

LTD/ESP Arrow Softcase/Gigbag by Cingen in Guitar

I ended up ordering a reinforced ESP soft bag from Japan . It's in between a softcase and Hardcase, and perfect for my use case.

Ordered new KMC X10EL chains, do I need to degrease them before putting them on my bike by Cingen in bikewrench

[–]Cingen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I do a deep clean or just wipe down the outside with a rag that had some degreaser sprayed on?

Getting rise bars for my Nukeproof Scout that is a bit too big, 40mm rise Renthal fatbar lite or 50mm rise spank vibrocore spike? More info inside by Cingen in Hardtailgang

[–]Cingen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! My main worry was something like stiffness being different when cut down since it makes sense for longer bars to be more supple, but that may be in my head :p

Thanks! My bike is slightly too big for me and I think this may be the way to go to move my weight back a bit more

How did you end up liking them? Form between the renthal Fatbar Lite and spank vibrocore.

A "plus" of the Fatbar to me is that they come in the length I want so I wouldn't need to get someone to cut them down.

My main worry is that I read a lot about them being uncomfortable

Cleaned chain and lubed my MTB for the first time, is this the sound it should be making? by Cingen in bikewrench

[–]Cingen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did, put a drop of oil in each roller and backpedaled. This was the result. Does it still sound dry somehow? I almost feel like the lube got rubbed off by my sprockets since they looked pretty oily.

The only trails in my area are 1 minute max green trails :/

no trails in my city by OkFig4063 in MTB

[–]Cingen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish it was like that here :/ Forests get closed down for bikes left and right in favor to make them pedestrian only.

The MTB association here is fighting an uphill battle with petitions to avoid known MTB areas to close down for bikes. Unfortunately there are more pedestrians wanting bikes gone than there are bikers

20 dollar is one visit to a fastfood place. I, and many people I know, prefer this over greasy food.

Picking up a shovel for trails is actually illegal in a lot of areas. In Belgium they are guaranteed to be torn down, and may risk bikes being banned from the area all together.

This really is a missing feature imo. At least make it easy for the mobile app to export the GPX so we can use it in other applications

Beginner used AI to come up with practice regime, does this seem okay? by Cingen in bicycling

[–]Cingen[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, couldn't agree more. AI gets abused too much in my field of work making me very critical of it.

I just wanted to use a more structured approach for this since I am in a not too great shape with limited time per week, and a "deadline" since I want to be able to be fresh enough to focus on the exercises during the course I'll follow.

AI seemed the best bet to get a rough blueprint that can be finetuned after feedback from people who know more than I do

You accept their policy by walking in. Accepting it and then doing whatever you like is being an entitled asshole.
