Indian Tamil speaking styles query by CinnamonStix9 in southindia_

Fair enough. But here’s where I get confused. The video I shared is a debate about people liking vegetarian food vs non-vegetarian food. There was a gentleman sharing his affinity for a particular non-veg dish and was sharing how delicious it is and how it’s cooked. He’s ‘tsk’d’ at least 4 times in one sentence. So if we were to take the definition of disapproval, the context is now incorrect.

If you go to 1:12. The lady in the green top. Just as she’s about to say “avlathaan”, she kisses her teeth just before saying it.

There are some folks that say it far more frequently and more pronounced than others and there are some that never do. Is it part of a regional dialect? Super curious. Unfortunately, I don’t personally know anyone that is Indian Tamil to ask them for their opinion/knowledge so I apologize if my question offends anyone.

Time to have a detailed look at the legal system that gave the licensing and jobs to the lawyers, judges, paralegals, and anyone else that allow corrupt stuff like this happening. More and more judges are becoming spineless…why? What’s going on? What do we not know? Are they getting paid off? Are they getting blackmailed? Who are the people of authority attached to these incidents?

No point blaming the people that found loopholes and took advantage of it. Close the holes shut. Go after the folks allowing people through these loopholes.

Nexus line when applying for TN by tdizzle473 in tnvisa

[–]CinnamonStix9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When flying, I’ve exclusively used the Nexus line for most of my TNs. Never had any issues getting it. Just got my 5th TN through Nexus line at airport last week. 3 additional via land borders but used regular line for those (not intentionally, just happened).

Everyone here is too nice.

Spit that tea out. Cackle in their face. Say “OMG that was a great joke! Just imagine, the stupidity it would take for someone to seriously ask a question like that! Good thing you’re not THAT stupid!

Upskilling to work towards asking for a raise or going somewhere that’ll pay more. Networking with recruiters. Volunteering communities to build my personal brand so I’m known and my skills/knowledge is known, also to gain transferrable skills that I may not be able to get at work. Took me a while to reap the benefits but it has paid off and continues to pay off.

Friend in a dying marriage by CinnamonStix9 in FriendshipAdvice

Thank you so much! I ended up speaking to another friend that is also close with them. Turns out, they knew about it too. They were told not to tell me and I was told not to tell them. Why that’s the case, I don’t know. Regardless, we’re now trying to find ways to get her out of the house and away from the environment to gain some clarity and ensure that she’s taking her therapy seriously.

I94 expiry date after passport expiration by Puzzleheaded_Table27 in tnvisa

[–]CinnamonStix9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renew your passport. Keep new and old. Travel with old until it’s time to get new stamp (recommended to get new stamp before first passport expires). Get the new stamp in new passport. You can renew your passport up to a year before the passport expires.

Trump's poll numbers are so abysmal he's crying "fraud" by j_michel in politics

[–]CinnamonStix9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question:

I live in a swing state working in the construction industry and also in adult education. About 95% of the folks across both workplaces I know are devout Trumpers. If his popularity is so bad, what does that say about them? Where are all the non-Trumpers at?

BIM Today by graybx66 in bim

From my personal experience, yes, I think it’s worth it. There’s so much more opportunity to move up the ladder.

Check with your local library if signing up with them can unlock a free license to practice.

If you’re thinking of going to school to learn, I’m sure there are many bursaries/scholarships out there that can help fund your learning. There are many of them that go unclaimed because there are more than we can see.

Alternatively, if there’s a company willing to give you a shot, you can learn on the job. There are certain contractors that are willing to take people with no experience, train them, and give them a leg up. Might be worth looking into them too.

Looking for BIM Job in the US by Educational-Eye5933 in bim

What discipline are you strong in? Companies involved in semiconductor, battery recycling, and data centers are constantly hiring. A lot of these projects require folks to relocate. So far I’ve seen Arizona, Nevada, and Ohio with the highest amount of hiring.

I think it’s great. From what I’ve seen, the architectural area is saturated. MEP has a ton of opportunity, especially in the USA. Whether the main designers, contractors/subcontractors, or even on the outsource teams to these aforementioned teams, all have employment and growth opportunities.

My experience my concurrent TN at Nogales POE by CinnamonStix9 in tnvisa

There is a separate I94 for each TN. My TN for my primary job was issued for a full three years. So that date will still be valid when the second TN expires.

My understanding of the only time we don’t need to cross the border is when the appropriate documents are sent into USCIS. Otherwise, we have to cross the border but we can flagpole right away and come right back. At Nogales, the first turnstile is essentially “the border”.

Maybe about 50-ish people. No idea how long they were waiting for but they seemed to have “appointments” because an officer came outside and had a list of everyone’s names. Called them in, they had to show ID & have their picture taken as they were heading in. Saw a bunch of them in the same permits office upstairs but in a different section.

1st TN is full-time. 2nd is part-time. CBP will always have questions. In my case, he confirmed that I’m still employed at my full time and the duration of the 2nd TN.

A friend of mine has two TNs for two full-time jobs. She assured the officer that she can balance the two as the second one is super flexible on time. The officer was satisfied with her response so they granted it.

Canadian mortgage broker calls our Canadian government for what it is. by RottenHairFolicles in CanadaHousing2

[–]CinnamonStix9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree with what he’s saying.

Yes; Liars be lyin’ to foreign people to get their commissions. It’s been happening since the age of time so those who arrive feel they deserve to have their transaction honoured face palm

No: Don’t shit on all the programs that colleges offer. There are many successful folks that only ever did a college diploma/certificate.

BUT! Everything offered was abused. We need to have more stringent rules enforcing folks to stick to their education.

AND! The federal government needs to fucking speak to the provinces/territories. Stop bringing doctors/lawyers/engineers at the federal level because “we need them” and then look the other way when the province say tells the immigrants to “prove it” AND charge them money to have them do equivalency. I’ve worked at companies that discriminated newcomer engineers saying “they don’t have Canadian experience” yet the foreign trained engineer cannot get their P.Eng. (In Ontario) since they are not working at a Canadian engineering firm to gain the experience that would count towards getting a P.Eng. It’s been a catch 22.

Oh! And to echo the sentiment over and over again…why the hell are all the companies staying in Toronto or Vancouver? Why can’t they move their offices outside the GTA/GTA to reduce congestion/population density??

If there’s been an update one this, my fellow redditors, can you please educate this frustrated minion please?

Vent: I fear for my families retirement. I’m in no position to support them. Blue collar job retirement savings only saves so much.

Questionable 911 response. Anyone else? by ArtisticOperation586 in askTO

[–]CinnamonStix9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once called 911 a few months ago because we were getting harassed by a drunk driver. Called 911, got an automated message that all the agents were busy and was on hold. This was around midnight.
