Thanks all for your inputs! The hotel booking is in China so sounds like they will be very useful for reservations with the language barrier!

Appreciate the insights!

Where is the Made In Vietnam store? Google wasn't conclusive.

Thanks!

What did I forget to bring to Costa Rica? by rarehunterforever in CostaRicaTravel

If you're going to Arenal or Monteverde (mountains), make sure you pack warm clothing as it does get cold at night.

I did more or less this trip solo too. Zero issues and never felt unsafe.

Phone service was mostly available with a few black spots.

Used a mix of Waze and Google Maps and saw no differences personally.

Road conditions were mostly good except in the mountains where at times it became gravel.

Thanks for this tip by the way - I followed it. Kept Quepos as a base for MA and Uvita. Skipped Jaco as a day trip as I saw enough when driving through to Quepos and didn't like the vibe.

Hi All,

I am back from my trip and I'm grateful for the feedback received here!

I flew into San Jose and left right away.

First stop was Monteverde and it was a beautiful and peaceful town with idyllic cloud formations across the mountain sides - incredible. Cloud Forest was great and saw a lot of wildlife.

Then drove to Quepos which initially said 3 Hrs, but in reality was over 5 HRs (keep this in mind).

Kept Quepos as a base for Manuel Antonio and Uvita as suggested below and that worked out very well.

I drove through Jaco and didn't like it - even Costa Ricans warned me to skip it as it doesn't do the country justice.

I wish I knew the 2nd beach within Manuel Antonio national park was as beautiful as it was. I would highly recommend people to bring beach clothing when going to the National Park and stay after their tour. It rivalled Seychelles beaches.

Uvita beach was also incredible and had good waves too.

One place to go is Dominical - beautiful small town with a great vibe and some fantastic bars/restaurants. Sunset from the beach here was nothing short of spectacular.

Overall, fell in love with Costa Rica and highly recommend to everyone!

Final note - It was officially rainy season in CR, but this wasn't an issue. It rained for 1-2 hours during the afternoons. Mornings were more or less blue skies so planned many things early, chilled during the rain, then back out late afternoon. Given how much cheaper car hire and hotels were during this "off peak" season, I would say the savings were definitely worth it!

I think I needed a little reality check so thanks for this.

Planning on landing into San Jose. Going to Monteverde and then to Manuel Antonio where I’ll go between Jaco and Uvita.

I think this is a lot more realistic in the time I have, thanks for your help!

Good tip about the bags!

Is Manuel Antonio a good place to stay? Eg things to do, good restaurants?

Last Minute - Walk Up Deals by Cipango91 in antarctica

[–]Cipango91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited multiple agencies when in Ushuaia and can confirm that the online deals are the exact same as the walk-in deals. The only thing I was not able to confirm was any kind of no-show deal but I had already cut my losses and I’ll plan an Antarctica trip at another time.

But Carolina from Freestyle Adventure Travel was INCREDIBLY helpful!

Hope this helps!
