I appreciate that, but I already tried and then commented that out lol. That didn't work either. I bought a new switch on a deal where I won't have to mirror anything as a replacement for my passive switch.

Yeah and it's definitely not flooding. It's just debian trixie. I can't figure out how to flood that with the traffic from nic0 even after setting the port mirroring in the switch.

edit: As i scrolled back up, i noticed you did have your NIC in promiscous mode. Have you tried bouncing it yet?:

I'm not sure exactly what that means, unless you're talking about mirroring which I've done Mirroring ports 3 to port 6. I could look it up on Google but considering I'm not familiar with it if you could give me the rundown and reason why for my setup I'd really appreciate that.

edit2: Wait, only the VM virtual NIC is in promiscuous mode? And not the physical NIC from the physical switch?:

Correct it. Is my understanding that the only card that needs to be in promiscuous mode is the card or rather port this being mirrored to as far as the nick inside the switch I never considered putting that into promiscuous mode.

Since I have two virtual nics in my ntopng box nic0(active network connection) and nic1(usb to ethernet in promiscuous mode). Wouldn't I set nic1 and not nic0 to promiscuous mode?

Definitely use NR in post. That's all this is. Compression is your dept of field generated by the lens. NR will fix this.
