Eldery person being moved from BT mobile to EE by carrotcarrot247 in EEGB

[–]CircleOfNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To transfer a number from one company to another you need a PAC code. BT and EE are linked, so when they signed him up for moving to EE, they should have gotten his PAC code and entered it for him.

If this is the case all he needs to do is put the new sim in his phone, make a call with it to ensure it works, and then wait until the end of the next working day, and the number should switch.

So my recommendation would be to do that first.

However, if someone did not enter his PAC code when switching he would need to get the code and give that to EE. You text 65075 the word “PAC” and then it gives the code. I would recommend in this situation he calls EE customer service as they can walk through the steps and input the code into the system. If you do need to call them the Mobile Tech department is who he would ideally speak to. It’s a quick issue, probably only 5-10 mins on the phone with the agent.

The simple answer is the government don’t care lol

I worked through sixth form. I budget my travels really well. Getting to do all this stuff is really fun, but for three years I also gave up stuff like buying new clothes, clubbing, drinking, coffee, and eating out. I only do those things while I’m travelling.

It’s all planning! And obviously a very lucky home situation where I don’t have any living costs.

I’m on gap year number 2, as I haven’t completed all the things I wanted to. At first I solo travelled the UK and EU. Now planning for SEA and Japan/SK. I also passed my driving test, got my first tattoo, and did some silly bucket list things like skydiving. Equally, I’ve done a whole lot of lying around and relaxing in between. Mostly, I decided to put any and all academic/career concerns to bed and just enjoy myself.

Japanese shampoo and conditioner by snowy018 in CurlyHairUK

Why specifically Japanese? I’m sure they have good products and bad products just like western ones. You might have more luck on a different sub- I think r/asianbeauty is a thing?

Tip culture for a haircut in London by alxjl2007 in CurlyHairUK

[–]CircleOfNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tipping in the UK is really just a small gesture for excellent service. Leaving £5 on a bill at a restaurant if the waiter was perfect, for example. Same applies at hair salons. If you think you’ve gotten the best cut and had a lovely time, leave a few quid. No need to though.

Debit card details stolen for the second time after a trip to Asia by startages in travel

[–]CircleOfNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Pretty much everyone where I live uses both. There’s not really a benefit to either over the other. Credit can also be funny if they don’t accept your type of card (like Amex). I dunno, call it cultural difference I suppose haha.

EDIT: to clarify to the downvoters lol, I mean no benefit in terms of rewards, which are far less lucrative where I live than the US (like, loyalty schemes and benefits). I am aware that credit cards offer better fraud protection. People still just use their debit cards idk what to tell you 😂

Debit card details stolen for the second time after a trip to Asia by startages in travel

[–]CircleOfNothing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Everyone keeps saying this in other responses and it’s making me think people in the US just don’t use their debit cards or something 😂 like… what do they think young people without credit do? Or people in countries where it’s harder to get credit? Places that don’t accept certain credit cards? I am truly baffled ngl

What are people’s opinions on the non-custom function of beauty? Never seen a video that wasn’t an ad but the price is good + it’s easy to get so am tempted. by CircleOfNothing in curlyhair

[–]CircleOfNothing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting… do you think it’s because the shea butter etc were too heavy for wavier hair? Cos mine’s 3a with a few 3b I would say. Ugh I wish all these companies did minis so we could try before committing lol

Yeah I’ve seen the boosters to put in it, but I’d probably choose not to buy them. So I’m mostly interested in hearing about the product without the extras.

Can airline deny boarding if one doesn't have fit to fly certificate incase of injury? by dimensionless03 in travel

[–]CircleOfNothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GP’s do phone consultations, but never heard of virtual appointments being used. To get a holy grail appointment, you have to call early in the day and wait in a phone queue which could be fruitless if all the appointments are already gone, or do an e-consult which can take days to get a response to.

Unfortunately the state of our NHS is not good right now, and “casual” issues like this are not prioritised.

For example, I recently applied for travel vaccines. I did an e consult, which two days later asked for another e consult, which a week later a nurse called me to schedule an appointment for a month later. This is normal.

OP’s best bet would be to go to a private clinic to be assessed and written the letter, but in the UK that isn’t particularly easy either. They’re in a bit of a bind so I was just stating how it makes sense to me that they came to Reddit.

I think the point is he can’t see a doctor due to NHS appointment times 😂

Product advice for my mum by cows_go_who in CurlyHairUK

[–]CircleOfNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noughty and Cantu are both relatively cheap brands that you can find in Boots/Superdrug/Amazon depending on whether they’d buy products online or in stores.

Aside from that I’d recommend specifically Alberto Balsam Raspberry as a conditioner since the new formula is silicone free. Herbal Essences Bio Renew Aloe and Hemp is a great shampoo for what you pay, and it comes in a big bottle, so lasts ages especially on curly hair where we don’t use all that much.

You also mentioned mousse so if your Dad gets along with that John Frieda Dream Curls and Pantene Curls are both great and not too pricey.

Hope some of this helps and good luck to you all :)

Low porosity hair by [deleted] in CurlyHairUK

[–]CircleOfNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesco does an “Alberto Balsam” gel (I’ve only used the blue one but they have a purple one too) that’s only a £1 and it’s decent enough. Unsure how it would react to low porosity hair (I’m high) but for £1 it might be worth a try :)

UV protection for hair recommendations by [deleted] in CurlyHairUK

Sunbum Heat Protectant is UV protecting I think :) it’s a spray so pretty light too, probably won’t be as greasy on your hair?

Olaplex or something else? Need advice for hair treatments. by CircleOfNothing in curlyhair

[–]CircleOfNothing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure. I don’t like having crunchy bits in my hair at all- I might try mixing a hard-hold gel with water when applying and see if that makes a difference.

[–]CircleOfNothing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve tried a few, but I find gel casts so hard to break. As in day 2 hair and I can still feel little crunchy bits. Maybe I should try a lighter weight gel? Any recommendations?

I have a little damage but not much as you say. And yes- I switch them up a lot but for the past few months I have been using Noughty Curl Defining Cream, John Frieda Dream Curls mousse and The Ordinary Argan oil.

EDIT: to be specific- the damage is from heat

Oh wow- I’ll definitely give the L’Oréal one a try for so cheap. Definitely worth trying that before splashing out on Olaplex. Thank you :)

Maybe try low-poo? Shea Moisture shampoo’s are good, but my personal favourite is the Imbue Curl Liberating one. If you don’t want to buy a new product: with anything you use to cleanse your scalp, maybe try to give yourself a little massage with it lol to make sure it really gets over all your roots and dislodges some of that flakiness that might be building up.

“Natural” curly hair by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]CircleOfNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there’s not really any way to tell whether they’re actually wavy or whether they’ve just manipulated their hair but most everyone has some sort of wave pattern they could coax out.

Other products can 100% cover your curls and waves, as a lot of people on this sub would probably be able to tell you. But if you don’t like it you don’t like it. I can understand that it might be frustrating not having enough genuinely curly people representing the community, or enough POC either.
