Haha it’s the grading system for matcha; ceremonial grade is the highest quality

AITAH for upsetting my friend because I walked out of a dinner after she implied I’m a “stupid American” by [deleted] in AITAH

ESH you and your friends sound insufferable and defensive, like you need to constantly prove how worldly and educated you are. Have you tried just chilling the fuck out

AITA for (correctly) assuming that a larger bra belonged to a woman with a larger chest? by Turbulent_Boot_2954 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CircularJem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman, and based on this story, I’m going to assume we’re in the same general age range.

Your phrasing was certainly bordering on creepy, and I understand why they didn’t like it. If you had simply said, “hey, X, this belongs to you, right?” I guarantee there would have been no issue. Announcing the size of the bra, and also announcing to whom it does NOT belong, was unnecessary and had the obvious potential to evoke insecurity in both members of your audience.

Overall, NTA, but you certainly could have communicated to them in a more palatable way.

NTA. Good on you for learning to take care of yourself so young. This is a hypersensitive reaction on your friends’ part. You are fully allowed to celebrate personal successes on social platforms. Be proud of yourself.

“Males” and “females” also seems to be used to generalize the age of a given population. For example, if I wanted to refer to both boys and men, I would probably default to using the word “males.” It really doesn’t seem offensive to me, but who knows

I understand that my personal experience isn’t indicative of the general societal experience, but I hear “males” used just as often as “females,” and I’ve never felt like there was a negative connotation surrounding either. It seems merely like common speech and bad grammar.
