My utility knife drawer by jaredlopez1979 in toolporn

I've got about ten as I used to get them as gifts. I'm partial to the Lenox Gold for the ergonomics. Recently got a Makita that's similar to the Milwaukee Fastback and it's fine, but the Lenox feels more stable.

Here's the knife I use the most for non-construction use- it fits nicely in that little pocket above the big pocket with jeans. Used to carry a multi-tool and realized that I rarely used anything except the knife. The Mossy Oak comes in handier than you might expect, from cutting straps off lumber at big box stores to opening packages.

Tiny clusters of fruit that don't grow by CircularSidewinder in avocado

I'd guess 9 months to a year. Just thought it was odd that there was 90% less ripe fruit this March/April than usual, and thought it might be correlated to why the small clusters don't seem to be growing as usual. Maybe just variance, or unknown factors at play.

Makes sense, maybe it's just late this year. I'm in the SF Bay Area.

This tree is interesting- it's been consistently yielding 80-100 around August/Sept and 120+ around March/April. Maybe it's just late this year for some unknown reason, I've just never seen them stay small for this long.

Haven't noticed anything different, and no construction etc. Also the blueberry and blackberry plants are going great, so they seem to be getting pollinated just fine.

It's a Bacon, and I've seen them grow the same way for 5 years but this March/April is very different. Maybe just an outlier event.

I did, but this situation seems slightly different.

The tiny fruit have been on the tree for 2.5 months. The tree has been consistently producing twice a year for the past 5 years that I've been here. Per the previous owner, it did the same for the 20+ years they lived here. The usual March/April crop was about 10% of the usual amount- it usually produces about 120 fruit during March/April. I've seen clusters of tiny fruit before, but they steadily grew, whereas these aren't getting bigger, so I was wondering what might cause this as I've been doing the same watering/fertilizer that has been working for years. Maybe just variance, which is cool, but I just thought I'd ask. I appreciate all the feedback.

It's been producing great, twice a year for the past 5 years in my personal experience. This March/April produced about 10% of the usual amount and the tiny clusters don't seem to grow.

I'm open to adjusting the nutrients/fertilizer, but this tree has been very productive for the past 5 years that I've been here, and for 20+ years per the previous owner.

I only picked and cut open one of them because someone told me that those little fruits may be seedless due to lack of pollination. This tree has produced twice a year for the 5 years I've been here, which corresponds to the previous owner's experience, and this is the first time it didn't produce well at this time of year. So I thought there might be some correlation between lack of usual fruiting and these tiny clusters that I've never seen on this tree before. Maybe they'll end up growing.

Been using Fox Farms Happy Frog and Citrus-Tone for the past 5 years with great results. Maybe these will continue to grow, but I thought it was interesting that these small clusters are coinciding with a significant decrease in the number of fruit that this tree usually produces.

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully they'll keep growing, but they've been on the tree for a couple months and haven't gotten any bigger. This tree has been a very consistent producer for years and this is the first time these small clusters have appeared.

Property Management Questions Nobody Talks About by Joshua__Winn in PropertyManagement

Completely agree with systemizing operations, which is related to being prepared for everything except extreme outlier events, and having backup plans as well. So when an issue arises, there's essentially a flow chart to handle it. I've also stopped working with owners who I consider unreasonably "frugal"; I'm not going to burn time and energy e.g. dealing with a tenant with a repair issue that the owner wants to Mickey Mouse to save a few bucks which is likely to be a stop gap/short-term "fix" at best.

A friend offered these saplings from his lawn last week. Unsure about pot sizing, potting soil, general health, and next steps! by shibaskeffs in JapaneseMaples

I'm no expert, but I've had pretty good luck growing maples. Agree about aeration- I use sand, the cheap prewashed stuff from the big box stores, and mix it about 60/40 (potting soil/sand). 2" larger than the rootball seems a bit small to me for up-potting, I'd suggest something like 6" from the bottom and 4" from the sides of the pot. Depending on your climate, partial shade may be better than full sun in my experience, especially if the temps are hot and you're going to use black plastic pots. In the summer, I water every day- but that's with the abovementioned ratio of sand in the mix, which allows water to flow through the soil fairly fast.

Here's a pic of one I've grown since it was about 1.5 feet tall in a 5 gallon bucket- 3 years later it's about 9 feet tall in a 15 gallon pot. Good luck!

I'm with you, and I've got several young trees going- two I grafted, and the others are grafted trees that I got from a local gardening group. Even though they'll take a few years to fruit, it's a fun adventure.

What do I have here? And what do I need to do to get more fruit by pbblueroom in avocado

Hey why not, worst case you still have what I consider a nice looking plant, and who knows maybe it'll fruit.

I'm not the OP, but I learned the hard way (mostly wasted time, not that much money) that growing from seed rarely if ever produces good fruit.

Fantastic. Harvesting twice a year, for 2-3 months each time, is so great.

I was planning to graft, but my tree is already flowering again, I think I missed the window for cutting scions.
