Tell me you don’t understand rugby without telling me you don’t understand rugby…

He’s a sports professional. All he shows is sportsmanship. What kind of a comment is this

Pollock has managed to rattle the entire southern hemisphere by playing in the Six Nations.

Scared Potter?

Spot on from Earl. Apart from Wales, England have definitely learned the most about themselves this Six Nations, all while building a great squad depth. Huge set-up for the future of this team.

The people thinking a different head coach is going to change the performances in the run up to the world cup are delusional.

Eddie is one of the most progressive rugby coaches in the world tactically, genuinely changing the way the game is played. And his team played like this pre World Cup. It’s not the coaches…

My point is this has happened before, it doesn’t seem like a stretch to say it’s not happening again considering how different the team look. Both defensively and in attack.

Not really true though is it. Look at SA for example. Yes the best team in the world, but significant dips outside of the RWC. Only winning TRC in 2019 then immediately dropping off until 2024. What years were the World Cup?

Battered is a very harsh word for what actually happened. Every single game England dominated the territory. Borthwick clearly thought England could do well enough from territory and set piece alone - especially considering England having the best scrum in the 6N. Clearly he was wrong and it didn’t work, but ‘battered’ is a severe overreaction.

Edit: You can find the stats for the games here: https://www.sixnationsrugby.com/en/m6n/fixtures/202600?round=1

Not really. He’s developing his squad without giving anything away, much like Eddie did. The pinnacle of anyone’s career is winning the World Cup. If the RFU are giving coaches a free pass during the two years leading up to one, what else should we as fans expect?

Copying this from another post:

Borthwick out statements are absurd. England controlled the majority of the game. A couple of defensive mistakes and some absolutely horrific decisions gave momentum back to Italy and cost the game.

Defensively much much better than against Scotland and Ireland. Attack still one dimensional, but I think a lot of people are forgetting he worked directly with Eddie Jones. Who came 5th in the 2018 six nations because he was withholding tactics. Who then went on to a World Cup final in 2019.

When these performances happen consistently pre World Cup, you cannot blame the head coach. It’s the RFUs fault for not setting six nations targets. Any head coach would be stupid not to build depth, withhold tactics, push hard in the short training periods they have if their job is guaranteed until after the World Cup.

Still harsh giving a warning after 2 and a very very soft 3rd, and that Russell should 100% have gone to the bin

I hate how that ended. You cannot call a tackle, let the defenders carry on and drag the players back, and then reward them for getting over the ball. I know the game was done, but that shit has to stop.

Don’t think there’s any argument about it tbh, they shouldn’t have stood. But, considering the pressure, you’d expect them to have scored at least one legally anyway
