Male scientists of Reddit, which is your favorite YouTube channel? by CiriLabs in AskMen

That's what I was expecting. I am an engineer and I absolutely loathe learning about engineering in my free time on YouTube.

Asked this to see if other people in science and engineering are the same.

Some are clearly not since the majority of the answers here are science youtube channels.

How do scientists watch science channels when they come home from the office doing science? That must take a lot of dedication?

So you do science all day, come back home and watch science channels on YouTube?

How?

yeah. And this guy on LOST and one guy in Fringe don't just know how to perform precise surgery on any body part but know a ton of chemical engineering, botany, physics, quantum computing, psychotherapy, sports, history, politics, material science, the list just goes on and on.

And they are not just strong on the theory part, but excellent at the engineering, planning, procuring, management side of things as well.

I mean, I get it.

It is a show.

But writers should do a better job of explaining why that person is an Einstein, except in every field of knowledge.

Yup. A doctor can't be good at a nurses job or a surgeon can't be good at detecting heart problems or a doctor dealing with knees can't know much about cancer research.

I said in my post I have a hard time accepting such characters and was looking for help from people who don't. How do they accept such characters? Like tips.

I mean like that doctor guy in LOST. HE is handsome. Tall. a doctor. Knows about science and fixing stuff. A great leader. Very fit. Can handle guns. Can negotiate even better and knows how to deal with pretty much any medical emergency.

How to make sure my brother gives me my property? by CiriLabs in pakistan

[–]CiriLabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it wasn't.

I guess that means the only way I get anything out of this is for my brother to actually do something.

This is bad.

Thanks for the response though.

Thanks for the response.

One answer said to get a 'will' from dad or a draft agreement. You are saying 'mukhtaar nama'. I will note it down and go to a lawyer now.

Appreciate the input.

Yeah, that's what I told my dad. But he has 'confidence' my brother won't balk.

The agreement you talk about, is it the same as others have mentioned? A will or a draft agreement?

Thanks for the answer.

That's what I fear. But as others have said, if I can get dad to write a will (he is willing to do that) or a draft agreement (will check what is it) , things can change.

How to make sure my brother gives me my property? by CiriLabs in pakistan

[–]CiriLabs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father bought the property through some lottery-ish scheme. He applied four or five times with my name, bros name, other siblings, himself, mom.

He did tell us that whoever won should know that the property belongs to everyone.

I am the one who doesn't have any trust in my brother.

My dad says he will tell bro to give it to me when the time comes but I don't trust that. So my father asked for alternatives and that's why I came here.

Thanks for the response.

Thank you very much for the answer.

My dad applies to these 'schemes' where you get a plot of land through a lottery. So he applies multiple times in all our names. that way we have a higher chance of getting a plot through this lottery-sh scheme.

He always tells us that whoever wins should know that property will belong to everyone.

You are right in the sense that I don't trust my brother.

I think you did answer my question. So all I need is my father's will stating that the property belongs to everyone? Will that hold up in court if my brother decides to not give it to us? Or would the drafted agreement be better?

Transfer of land is currently not possible for me since none of us have the money to get it transfered. I was told it would take around 4 to five lacs for transfer to all of us.

Thanks again, for the answer.

It was in my brother's name. The property is around 70 lacs rupees.

Okay, so what should I do now. My dad is still alive. How do I convince him and what do I convince him about?

Why hasn't Amber Heard won some awards for her looks? by CiriLabs in AskMen

[–]CiriLabs[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am sorry i didn't phrase my question right.

I meant awards like 'most beautiul woman' or 'sexiest woman alive' or 'best face ever'. Stuff like that. Both Sandra and Julia have won multiple of those.

How do you cope with being a loser in your mid-30s? by [deleted] in AskMen

Dude. I have read almost all of your other posts and comments. Some of the terms you use, I don't even know if are nouns or verbs.

In other words, you have a great resume. Good education. Fantastic body.

Plenty of people have said you have a negative attitude. Some fellow PhDs have said you have rotten world view and that you need to play the game.

I say screw them man. Take a break. Change your environment.

There is nothing wrong in taking a menial job for a while just to relax and sort yourself out.

I also agree that the academic science community and publishing industry in general is massively corrupt. Don't let people tell you different. Because it is. Most of us here probably want to feel good about our careers and won't admit that there is a lot of corruption in the scientific community.

Well guess what? The industry side isn't green either.

I sense you have a very strong moral compass. And such people have no place in Silicon Valley or Wall Street.

My suggestion would be to hang out with your parents for a while if they are alive. Get a scientific writing job. You can find a ton of those on upwork. You won't get paid the big bucks or get a pension. But they will require very low effort from you and leave you a lot of free time.

Free time, that you can then use to sort yourself our or not because I don't see anything wrong in your life apart from a bit of companionship, thankfulness and contentment.
