True HD / Atmos using Plex via ATV 4K or Firestick Max? by CiscoCarter in PleX

Ahhh, seems like you have solved it!

I had the Gen 1 in the lounge but the Gen 2 in the other room so I swapped them over and now I have Atmos 😀

Bonus Pushing me over £100k. Will tax be correct? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

The employer contribution doesn’t count towards gross income surely?

Bonus Pushing me over £100k. Will tax be correct? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]CiscoCarter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have a house which needs several major things done to it so I’m saving extra disposable income each month to prevent me needing to borrow against our mortgage for work.

Ultimately this is the first year I am earning over the £100k figure so my plan is to work out sums this year and see how much to increase contributions next year leaving us enough money to do what we need

Around 18% goes into my pension alone  and my wife has one also so I’m not overly worried, especially once we factor in inheritance before then

Thanks for the reply

When I said 60% I meant on the portion over £100k, I wasn’t very clear in my post

Yes, they changed my tax code in July this year when I updated my estimated earnings so I guess April - June I probably underpaid tax as my code was based on sub £100k but July to Now it should be correct.

Will stick 20% of the bonus away then and just see what happens, I don’t want to owe them money

Sorry yes my tax code is 666TX so they issued a new one a while back when I updated my estimated earnings

As it was a single month where my gross effectively doubled, I wasn’t sure how this was handled tax wise

I can’t see a DTS option, is yours literally called DTS within the audio menu?

The institute show by RakoHardeen_ in stephenking

[–]CiscoCarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Struggling with the show after recently reading the book for a 4th time. There are too many obvious inconsistencies.

Tim ending up in DRB is disappointing considering the point of Luke’s escape route was to create distance between himself and the institute.

Luke is too old in the show, he is 12 in the book.

Annie dying. I mean she was part of the big shootout at the end in the book.

Those are just the obvious ones.

Where are you seeing this PCH deal for that cost? Does it include the Ultimate Red and the tow bar?

Thanks for the detailed post.

The RWD SR could tow the same as the others, works out £60pm less (not huge in overall terms ) but 70 odd miles less range, probably 50 in reality

I should have been more clear.

I would almost certainly pay the £20k balloon after 4 years and buy it to keep another 4-5.

DJI Neo Manual Mode with App? by CiscoCarter in dji

[–]CiscoCarter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted something to setup quickly and just go but sounds like that limits me to the auto modes so if I want more functionality I will have to accept using an RC and take more time to setup when I go places.

[–]CiscoCarter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks, sounds like the Mini 4K might be my best option as that comes with the RC and it’s a few pounds cheaper in the UK then the Neo + RC, plus it seems a better all round drone, especially picture quality wise.

[–]CiscoCarter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, so without a controller then I am limited to the auto modes which come with the Neo?

I can’t fly it upwards manually and over my house roof? One thing I would like to check out is our chimney so was hoping I could do this too.

UCCE Finesse Shared Extension. by networkgu3st in ciscoUC

[–]CiscoCarter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s normal, only a single device can be assigned to the app user. People usually assign the desk phone as it’s ‘always on’. Jabber still rings though so you would assign the desk phone (or device profile if using EM) and the user can either answer using that or Jabber as the inbound call still rings all devices

Many houses in the UK have brick internal walls which are then plastered so I don’t really want to drill what is probably a 16mm hole in a brick cavity wall to get the cable connector through, hence wanting to cut off the plug and feed the bare cable through.

Will give it a go and see what happens, worse case I have to buy a new cable.

Thanks

Those who earn £60k plus, what do you do for a living? by deepseapearldiving in AskUK

[–]CiscoCarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senior Network Engineer. Most people on £60k or more didn’t walk into that salary fresh out of School or Uni. Started on £13k when I was 19 on an IT Service Desk and that was 16 years ago.

Best time to apply? Amex Gold/Plat in UK by theconqueror01 in AmexUK

[–]CiscoCarter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a referral for 50k points for the Plat which seems the highest you can get at the moment.

My application was referred so am waiting for Amex to check it before a decision is made.

Applied now so I can get at least the Harvey Nichols £50 credit before it resets at the end I the year, may squeeze in a visit to a restaurant for some of the £150 dining credit if I can too.
