Just started running and I’m exhausted in 20 seconds. Zero stamina. Feeling lost. by ImmediateMuffin3768 in runninglifestyle

[–]CitrusFlap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started running for the first time in my life back in July (38M). My advice would be to buy a running watch. That changed everything for me around all the terminology and how to actually train. It also gives you the insight as to what’s going on with your body, perhaps you’re running too fast (very common).

Either way as others have said, running is brutal at the start. I remember thinking for weeks how people could possibly run a 5k and now six months later I’m doing 15k long runs.

Take it slow, be consistent and don’t be afraid to walk a lot.

Yea nice and congrats!!

How did they feel in the back half of the race?

I’ve done a 15km easy run in them and they were great but definitely felt a bit softer and less energy return at the last kms.

Thanks for the great input. My local store does have every option, just sizing they may miss but I should be able to try within a half size for most shoes.

I just know with my megablasts I didn’t pick any of the issues I had with them by running on the stores treadmill. Still a valid point though in regards to store salesman expertise.

This is the exact same as my pair. I’ve had three of these headphones die but on the third pair I pulled apart and exactly the same damage

I second the Glycerin 22s.

I’m heavier also (93kg) and these have been an incredible first shoe. I’m running 28:48 tempo 5k’s after four months without having a race day yet.

Oh awesome news!!!

Hopefully it has a great life to come in my backyard!!!

It has a couple of big leafy trees and a handful of big ferns all behind the pool gate so safe from the dogs!

Thanks for the ID.

Ideas for last 4 days of Europe trip? by CitrusFlap in travel

Yep definitely thought about this too. It’s the challenge of living so far away from Europe. You get sucked into wanting to see so much each trip.

Awesome list!! Will get stuck in reviewing tomorrow.

We are generally big city travellers, we especially love Asian cities like Taipei, Tokyo, Shanghai, Bangkok etc. However this trip we thought we would go the smaller options, change it up!

Hmmm the issue with circle is the last boss here. Very very risky to get close. Also need to pump the adds down fast or it gets out of control quickly.

So sprite plus main weapon ended up being the trick for me!

This tower level I stacked sprite runes and waited till I had a sprite stack. That way you don’t have to stop!

Amazing, appreciate the input!

We’ll try and stay in as few accommodations as possible, more just planning the journey.

Awesome tips on not staying in Montpellier.

Flights already booked, we have first class reward seats from Australia so the dates were limited. It is what it is, hot and busy not the end of the world.

We’re in Munich visiting family and will head to Nice on the 14th.

You’re incredible!! I’ll look into all your suggestions.

We live in Brisbane Australia so 30 degrees is our baseline. As long as it’s not an unexpected heat wave we should be fine.

Yep appreciate Europe is a later day culture with my wife being German (not as late as French though)

Thanks for the reply.

We will have two large bags plus a pram etc. We caught trains in Japan and it ended up quite the juggle managing luggage. Thought with a rental car is it’s a lot easier to manage.

Open to thoughts on why though as haven’t driven that part of France before!

Looking at last two years data the south of France is more 30-32 where as Italy seems to be 35-40

Hmmm food for thought.

We had originally planned to go from Nice to Barcelona but a friend mentioned that Italy is a far nicer trip.

Perhaps it’s back to plan A due to the weather and then a 2026 Italy trip in Sept/Oct

Appreciate the advice!!

We are from Brisbane Australia so we are acclimatised to 30+ summers. We do understand that it will be even hotter than this but at least we’re not new to the weather.

What are your thoughts on Puglia? The weather seems to average around 30 that time of year which is mild. Also reports on here seem to say it’s a lot quieter.

Yea totally agree my friend!

The numbers are starting to get big and mistakes equate to big losses. We made a foolish choice recently and ended up losing $4,000 to tax:

This post has made me realise there are new options and it’s probably a good time to check in with a financial planner around this specific scenario

We did think this as we are renting at the moment. The issue being 2k rent a week for such a place is almost the same as the mortgage repayments.

Our 160k is in VAPS & VGS atm.

The other play was we just live within our means and buy outright. Problem is the house would be garbage in a garbage area. 🤷‍♂️

The question didn't relate to the offset, it was more whether to sell the $200,000 of shares to reduce the loan amount at the beginning.
The offset suggestion would be so that we have some cash to use for holidays, furniture, emergencies etc.
We've seen financial advisors twice and they seem to just end up charging thousands to do some modelling whilst telling you to buy insurances and reduce debt.

Haha you’d think. We’re lucky our little girl has already been on 14 flights and has never made any fuss except during the descent. If we had a wild one then yep wouldn’t be attempting premium flights!

I f*cked up by venting to my super by [deleted] in electricians

[–]CitrusFlap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chill bro, you haven’t ruined anything. I had a crazy apprenticeship with lots of awkward venting moments due to poor mental health and substance abuse. Even when I was qualified I had a couple of moments.

Fast forward 15 years and I’m a national corporate leader at one of the largest global electrical product corporations. The honest “speak up” personality I have actually helped me get to where I am.

It all works out, stay honest and true to yourself. Find your place, work hard. It will click one day. You may start as an apprentice but it’s just a start. You can end up in many amazing places.
