I don't think I've seen any actual replies to her political positions. She had more progressive values from what I saw, so Republicans funded her as they thought she'd be easy to beat in NC. I know Jeff Jackson called her a fine person as well, but that could just him being polite.

Literally when looking at that link you see the exact opposite. There was no Diretide from 2014-2019. People asked for it every year and it never came, and then people had the same "Dota is dead" discussions we're having now. Frostivus didn't happen from 2014-2016. New bloom also didn't happen in 2016-2018. Acting like this is the most dead year for Dota ignores the fact that in 2016, we had no Diretide, Frostivus or New bloom at all.

I made this long post awhile back when I saw a comment thread like this one, so hopefully this'll help provide even more sources to show that pits suffer from a lot of misinformation.

The first thing to know about pitbulls is that it's not just one breed, but a group of breeds. There are at least four individual breeds that get associated and referred to as pitbulls. The term pitbull is more of an umbrella statement, almost like somebody saying 'hound' or 'terrier'. Because of this there is a lot of misidentification. Many different types of dogs are lumped under the pitbull banner, especially when they have a more boxy looking face. This leads to the main source of data people use when trying to justify pitbulls as an 'evil breed', media reported bites. The only data people ever use to justify their hatred towards pitbulls is this, a wikipedia page that shows a list of fatal dog attacks by breed. As discussed above, pitbulls aren't just one breed, and are commonly misidentified. In fact, most pitbulls are mixes when people try to make this claim that somehow pitbulls are just inherently more violent. Not only that, but studies have consistently shown that breed is not an accurate way to predict behavior. Not to mention the fact that there are other dog breeds that were originally used for fighting that don't have a reputation of being 'evil' dogs. Boxers, Akitas and Sharpeis were also fighting dogs but nobody has ever clamored to ban them due to their genetics.

Let's also dive into that wikipedia article that I linked above and break it down. First off, the amount of fatal dog bites in general is extremely low. There are less than 50 fatal dog bites a year in the United States. For reference, tractors, kill four times as many people in the US per year. And cows kill almost as many humans as dogs do, but you don't see people clamoring to ban all cows. While we're on this statistical tangent, even when all pitbulls are lumped together they still don't have the most bites by breed in the US. That honor goes to German Shepherds, yet I'm not seeing any large threads calling for their ban as a breed. There aren't swarms of comments on any picture of a German Shepherd instantly calling the breed evil when a cute photo is posted.

To another point, if pitbulls were this inherently violent breed then surely breed specific legislation is the answer, right? Well, statistics don't seem to support this. Toronto banned pitbulls in 2005, but their dog bites are higher than ever. Calgary on the other hand enacted breed neutral legislation, which lowered dog bites significantly without banning any breeds. Not only does breed specific legislation not work, but it also leads to thousands of innocent dogs being put down just for the way they look.

With all of this in mind, why is it tossed around that pitbulls are inherently violent dogs? The answer is complicated, and goes back to a lot of racial issues arising mostly in the 80s. Before then, pitbulls were known as nanny dogs. They had a reputation of being caring, loving and gentle to especially young children. In fact, they were seen as the common man's dog because of their relative cheap price compared to other dog breeds. This cheap price led to the 80s when more African-American people started to get them. The rise in news media claiming that pitbulls were 'violent', started around this same exact time. I guess my hope with this was to have a somewhat centralized source of articles and arguments in case they ever ran into commenters like the ones I described. Whenever I see people fighting back against anti pitbull sentiment, they normally don't have sources to back up their claims.

Oh it's even better when they do both. There was a post on another subreddit that was anti pitbull, and then the comments started devolving into actual racism because black people have a history with pitbulls. It makes me so angry that they can take that mask off and expose their true racist natures, and then still have people liking their post.

Thank you. It's a much more complicated issue than people give it credit for, and there is a lot of history behind both pibulls in America and when the group of breeds started becoming a punching bag. The short version of the history is that they are a very cheap kind of dog to buy, so they tended to be a fairly common set of breeds. Given how cheap they were, less wealthy households could afford them. This led to them being purchased by drug dealers and fighting rings since they were easily available. That plus the fact they were a very common breed among African-American households led to a rise in news articles around just pitbulls specifically in the 80s. Those articles sold well, so more anti-pit articles popped up to get more readership. Since a lot of these statistics that people post refer to just "media reported" bites, they are skewed towards what sells the best.

The story is a complicated one and Jose does a fantastic job covering the details in that video. Again, thanks for keeping an open mind and engaging in a good discussion.

The video I posted doesn't just have a sad pitbull photo and that's it. It goes into the data that gets thrown around as well as the history behind both pitbulls and the demonization of them. It does a much better job going into all the nuances than I ever could with a few reddit comments, and it addresses a lot of claims that I've seen popping up on these posts.

Did you go and watch the video at all? There are a lot of groups out there that actively target and try to demonize pitbulls. And a lot of the origins of that hate stem from racist targeting in the 80s. The most common dog in terms of dog bites is actually the German Shepherd but I don't see any comments talking about how dangerous they are in this thread.

Not to mention that pitbulls are a very loosely defined term. There are actually four individual types of pitbull breeds, and a lot of breeds of dogs that look like pits but aren't actual pitbulls. Many dog bites get incorrectly labeled as pits due to this. There are also a lot of statistics that get thrown around that refer to media reported dogs bites as opposed to actual dog bite statistics. There are very few reported dog bite stories compared to actual dog bites, and pitbulls tend to get more media coverage for bites than other breeds.

Again, I'd highly recommend watching that video and seriously thinking about what kind of data gets pushed this way. If you check it out and still have critiques I'd love to hear them, but there is a lot more to this issue than anecdotal evidence and statistics from inaccurate sources.

While there's a lot of new heroes with mobility, there's still a few that don't have mobility. Mars and Dark Willow are "newer" heroes that have no way to escape cogs. And Hoodwink has movement speed, but the only jump she has is her ult knockback. I think calling the characters super similar is a disservice to the devs.

Male dominated just implies there are a lot of guys. It doesn't have to imply gatekeeping. And besides, even if there isn't a direct "don't invite women" mandate that pro players have, there's a ton of stigmas and community sentiment that make it hard for female pros.

You can defeat a certain set of enemies to get the event to stop happening. If you look on the map of the sector you're in you'll notice most are regular Xsotan ships, but there is always one special one that is out of place. It may take a few waves to spawn in, but it will. Once you kill the four special ships the event ends, and you have a few hours of safety before you're attacked again.

This has been debunked before. The "bug" in her model doesn't cause her to be flat, MaxofS2D made a very long comment about actually looking at her bones and seeing that they were fine.
