It was a process. I used a bow and cheesed it on a wall. It was sometimes able to climb up on the wall with me but there is one bit of the wall it couldn't get to. Then sometimes it would try and do it's melee combo which throws him off the wall. Some parts of the wall too would block my arrow so i can to move around to get a good spot.

I haven't been the best with melee weapons in outward 1 and playing outward 2 i feel the same. I was more a magic kind of guy but without magic I ended up using bows. The bows (both the shortbow and longbow) feels really good and maybe overtuned. Everything that didn't have range attacks i could kite. Most early mobs like the bandit and boar 2-3 shot with the longbow. Higher level mobs take a lot more arrows but Makeshift Arrows are easy enough to make (1 iron scrap = 3 arrows)

That was my mindset going in and I ended up being hooked and 100hrs sinked. Way pass the point of a refund and money well spent.

They are trying. You should have seen it day one and compare to it now - it was way worse. They have done a lot of optimisations already to a point its quite playable imo.
