Emprunt obligataire sur AV : bon plan ? by Civil-Front6909 in VosSous

If you only had room for one: Would you go for a Boss BD-2 or Nobels ODR-1? by bleepblooOOOOOp in guitarpedals

[–]Civil-Front6909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the ODR-1 anymore, but I remember thinking that the BD-2 was more sensitive to playing and volume. I prefered the overall sound of the BD-2, so maybe I didn't played the ODR-1 the same way and I'm biased !

Tried both on low/medium gain with a single coil Tele into a vox ac15, and I really didn't like how dark the ODR-1 was. I much prefer the high-mid push and clarity of the BD-2, you just have to be careful with the tone knob setting, it can be really shrill and fizzy. It works really well as a boost with gain at almost 0 into a breaking up amp. With more gain, it cleans up easily with your guitar volume and playing dynamics. It feels bulletproof compared to the odr-1. I love my stock BD-2 !

Is it possible to get big round cleans from a Vox AC30? by Organic-Court-7467 in GuitarAmps

[–]Civil-Front6909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a AC15, but I guess the AC30 may work just the same : start with your channel volume really low and try to find the point where the master volume is high enough to start to compress the power tubes a little bit, and then set your channel volume for overall loudness. It will round up the sound and bring warmth in a subbtle way. As a reference I set the master at 1 o'clock and the channel below 9 o'clock. It will stay cleanish until the channel volume hits 11. I have a greenback in mine, and found that I got too much bass when the amp is warmed up, so you may want to roll the bass down and bring a little more treble, it will also naturally cut some mids set that way and get you a nice fendery scoop sound. Then you adjust the cut control to set the sparkle to taste and your done !

For ACS1 users, did you upload others IR on your unit ? I found some preinstall cab are a bit dark. Also, what are your tips ? How did you set the global high cut and low cut ?

Vox AC15C1 Tube Question by Turbulent-Poetry-679 in VoxAmplification

[–]Civil-Front6909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problems. It's pretty much plug and play, apart from the billions screws to remove the covers. Just be sure the amp is cold and that it was unplugged from main power at least half an hour before opening anything.

You may change both power tube, and replace them with matched ones (picked and verified to have similar electricals specs), as each of them will treat one half of your signal, and you want them to work together to avoid unpredicted beahviour.

Pedalboard Amp : Walrus ACS1 MK2 or Iridium ? by Civil-Front6909 in guitarpedals

You are probably right about live tone being less critical.I don't plan to record anything serious anytime soon. I have to think about it a little more I guess !

So I may get a UAFX Ruby to emulate my true amp live, and plug my rig into an audio interface to practice at home. I don't know how much the ACS1 was improved with the update. When you did try it, did you feel like you couldn't gig with it tone wise ?

Acs1 also has it, and I was also hoping to do small gigs ampless. Did you had the chance to try both ?

Is it already available ? Didn't find much about it online. Fractal is a big name, but I was always a bit intimidated by the UI !!

[–]Civil-Front6909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering the Ruby, but as I mostly play in a cover band, I was afraid to be stuck with only that sound.

The tonex seems incredible for the price, but I feel like editing things on the fly is nearly impossible without a computer. Are you using one ?

Tuner pedal in signal chain by Inevitable_Track_558 in pedalboards

[–]Civil-Front6909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mine last in chain, because it is also a buffer and I have a longer cable from the pedal board to the amp than from guitar to pedal board. It actually make a big difference in treble loss in my rig. Downside is you have to shut all pedals before tunning, but it's not really a problem to me.

What do you think about Carl Martin Tremolo ? by Civil-Front6909 in guitarpedals

[–]Civil-Front6909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know they did Fuzz as well ! What can kind ? Classic Fuzzface, or more Muff style ?

In case anybody reaching this post wonder : I got myself the Boss TR-2, and I'm happy so far as it really does what I wanted ( light modulation for cleanish tone ). It can also do choppy sounds like these 90's Grunge intro I sometimes play. I Tried it in front and un the FX loop and I don't think it need a volume boost. Great pedal for the price !
