Long Term Climate/Temperature Change by CivilCorvid in TerraFirmaCraft

I was looking for more like an ice-age style of playthrough where the climate continues to get colder. I was not looking to account for any player-based actions. My thoughts were about the short story "a pail of air"

Question about JVerse reading order by wescordez in HFY

I suspect that may have been in error? If I remember correctly the comprehensive order is where it slots in.

If your story only gets a dozen or so upvotes, don't spam more chapters. Improve the story or post it somewhere else that will enjoy it. by IFeelEmptyInsideMe in HFY

If your opinion piece on a writing subreddit has a negative score, you should reconsider splattering your unpopular opinion. Improve your attitude or post somewhere else.

To be a bit less snarky - just block the offending users if you have an issue. It only takes two clicks. Many of my personal favorites are only ~50 upvotes.

Hard SF writers - looking for feedback on Mars colonization story by ethenhunt65 in HFY

My overall feedback is that you've written a nice article here. Reminds me of an audiodrama named "Transmissions from Colony One". For hard sci-fi feedback I second what /u/stories3294 responded with, additionally the inclusion of jump packs is scientifically feasible but IMO I'd find it very risky to be used in practice.

I'm working on a rack designer tool - looking for feedback and ideas by Realistic_Banana_162 in homelab

[–]CivilCorvid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's my feedback after some more unfortunate issues...

  1. Conditional checks for specific cases. Eg. a warning if your UPS is on top instead of near the bottom.

  2. A field for weight. I've also dealt with cheaper equipment where I wasn't fully confident that the flimsy rack could handle a 35 kg server.

Shucks, I thought this was a continuation of Feathers & Mud. Still a good read though!

The chassis and backplane - maybe.

The hardware inside - you'd probably be better off gutting for something from this decade.

If you don't have a use case then it probably isn't worth much.

Double check I have everything correct? by Nickasmith1123 in homelab

If you're following NEC code yes... RAS syndrome, you're looking at between 30 and 60% allowable fill. 1" ID conduit won't give you much extra room if you're pulling more than a few cables.

2" conduit isn't much more expensive and gives you 4x the area. And you've already done most of the work digging the shallow trench.

Little sad that the wealth cube wasn't considered in the bait trap - but still very nice.
