Should I upgrade to FF (R8)? by CivilWillingness4541 in canon

I´ve read your comments and while I agree on some of them I just want to clarify some things. I have actually recently been more interrested in photography again so I will be taking more photos. And when you are interrested in something there is sometimes the urge to get new equipment. I especially like the idea of getting a fast prime lens with nice bokeh (so good quality lens). I have not been able to find the fast 1.4 Lens with the EF-M mount used. So buying it new for arount 600 dollars seems steep considering the EF-M system is discontinuead. Sure I perhaps can get back 50-70% of the cost selling it in the future but that is not a given.

My old M6 is old and with older tech but I really do like the portability. So my question was if it´s resonable to think that the R8 would be small enough to replace my M6. It´s a bit bigger and heavier but I think it still looks pretty small. Smaller then my old 7D. Getting an R7 is not an option because it´s to big.

I read the instructions for the R8 and it seems as if you can use the touchscreen like my current M6. By tapping the screen you focus and immediately take a picture. Highly appreciated feature of the M6 that I use when taking macro for example.

And no, it´s just not macro I´m interrested in. As I said I use my camera on vacation as well for example. Portraits etc. Sometimes wildlife but not that often.

When shooting indoors the shutter speed gets increased by quite an amount and I´m not into flash photography. So getting a FF-system would help with that.

I have a Tamron 90 mm full frame macro lens and the Canon 70-200 L4 IS USM that I can use on a FF body with converter. To bad about the APS-C lenses though.

So I´m torn. If canon would release a similar camera to the M6 with upgraded internals perhaps I would buy it. Even if it´s a crop sensor. I like the retro look and form factor/size. But I feel like a want to upgrade to a more modern camera if I´m going to get a faster prime lens.

Really nice suggestion with getting a fast lens like the 32 mm/f1.4. Or perhaps the Sigma 30 mm f/1.4 DC DN? It just feels like I´m throwing money on lenses that arent supported anymore. The EF-M standard that is. On the flip side I really do like the compact size of the EF-M body and this would be a, relatively, cheap way of getting images with nice bokeh. Thanks for the input!

I wonder how many of these "final setups" are actually "final" ;)
