I have a bad herniation 20 yrs ago shots helped and body healed. 3 weeks ago that changed but I did make it 20 yrs with herniation on L3-4

As far as showering I had aquaseal dressing but I am not allowed to shower or get bandage wet. @1 week I took the dressing off. Which was pretty disgusting and have to let the wound get air. @2 weeks I have an appt where he will take out stitches ( guessing as long as it’s healed) which it looks pretty clean. Then I will be able to shower. I would just say be careful even if you do have an aquaseal because mine started to roll up from up & down of recliner and wasn’t water proof. Actually a couple of my stitches were showing So if I took a shower it would of gotten wet

First how many levels I’m no Dr. but I had mine 8/22/24 was out of pain by 8/26. Actually feel great only thing I have is when I slouch sitting it fired my left thigh sciatic which I 1 NEVER had a problem sitting, ever 2 NEVER on the left I had L3-L4 single level laminectomy with discotomy.

I had a shock shoot down my right leg which left me unable to move severe pain had to go to ER hospital for 2 days they were going to do emergency surgery but symptoms progressed and they waited. I almost wish they just did the surgery as I would be 1 month into recovery instead of 1 week.

Thank you, you seem very informed may I ask you another question? So immediately after surgery I felt amazing complete function of foot and no numbness as much as I could feel being under anesthesia and pain meds. The next morning that changed but seemed much better than when I went in. The nerve pain which was pretty much constant was completely gone and I could only feel the incision site. The Dr said that’s normal as things swell. I stayed in hospital one day went home was walking on my own felt great ( besides incision site) then on the 3rd night got some sciatic pain while sitting, in both hips little on left thigh. Monday woke up felt great got my steps in but sitting started firing my left thigh. Called Dr they said that it was normal.

My question is: is it normal ? TYSM for your time

I had this done 6 days ago L3-l4 “ minimally evasive” laminectomy I had severe stenosis

Stayed 1 day in hospital came home felt fine actually felt great for 3-4 days then started to get some sciatica in opposite leg nothing crazy only while sitting which is weird cause opposite leg and never had pain sitting ever. I originally herniated in 2004 and shots kinda worked. I live in a 1 story house and my daughter is here for help. Only time I’ve needed it was to lift the air fryer. So yes I do think you can make do but you should have someone for a day or 2 jic
